Get to know your library team! Up first is Steve πŸ’πŸ‘‹

Branch: Coventry
Role: Youth Services Librarian
Time at Heights Libraries: 8 Years

What do you do?
I organize youth programs and Storytimes, assist young people in finding books, help manage our collection of children's books, serve on committees, and help people of all ages at the reference desk.

What's something people may not know about your job?
Part of our job is bringing the library to you. Thanks to our beautiful Coventry PEACE Park, I get to host a number of outdoor programs throughout the year. I also visit local schools and preschools to do Storytimes.

What's your favorite part of your job?
I really enjoy the variety. I love doing programs and Storytimes, but I wouldn't want do them all day long (preschool teachers, I salute you). The days have a nice flow to them, but enough differences to keep me on my toes.

Any tips or tricks to share?
Adults, don't discount youth nonfiction as a great source of information! The simplified text and clear communication is a great way to get introduced to a new topic.

What's something most people don't know about you?
I like learning about sports that aren't popular in the U.S. such as Gaelic football, cricket, and netball. The variety of games humans create always amazes me and I love learning how they work!

Thanks for all you do, Steve! πŸ‘πŸ’™
