Rural Fire Department in Clifford Michigan. Providing fire protection and emergency medical care for The department is overseen by Fire Chief Mark Schank.

The department hold their training meeting the first Sunday of each month and a business meeting the third Wednesday of each month. We are members of the following groups. Lapeer County Fire Association

Tuscola County Fire Association

We would like to thank everyone that stopped by our annual fire prevention open house this past Saturday. We look forward to helping with fire prevention at some area schools in the next couple weeks. Enjoy a few pictures from our open house event.

Thank you to Lapeer County Farm Bureau and the Lapeer County Ed-Tech for sponsoring and hosting the Satra grain bin rescue training Monday afternoon. BTFD had four members attend the awareness level training. Thank you to Probationary Firefighter Sauer, Firefighter Dunn, Firefighter C. Sherlock, and Chief Rye for taking the time to continue building our response skills in the event of a grain bin emergency. #

Your Burlington Township Fire Department has been busy the last 10 days. We had four members participate in the Elba FD to Hadley FD 911 memorial walk on September 11th. We thank them for representing BTFD and never forgetting September 11, 2001.

This past Tuesday evening during the township meeting we had three members take the oath of the fire department and the positions they hold. Firefighter Melinda Goss was sworn in for her recently appointed promotion to the Sergeant position. Probationary Firefighter Rowdy Sauer and Probationary Firefighter Mikaila Holleman took the oath for their position as firefighters. We also recognized Retired Firefighter John VanCamp for his service to the fire department and the township citizens. Congratulations to each of you.

Today was our monthly training and the members worked on their vehicle extrication skills. These skills will help to remove a trapped patient from an accident scene quickly and safely. We must continually train to improve our abilities. The members named today's training "When the Chief's away we still train"
We thank the community for your continued support and look forward to seeing everyone at our annual open house on October 3rd.

May we never forget all of those that lost their lives 25 years ago. We must continue to support those that fight the long term sickness and illness caused from that day. They left their families that morning like we do every day, not knowing what catastrophic events where about to place. Remember to never miss an opportunity tell your friends and family that you love and appreciate them. Let's reunite like we did on September 12th, 2001.

Did you know that even BTFD fire apparatus responding to an emergency are required to turn off our lights and sirens and come to a complete stop when approaching a school bus with its red warning lights activated?

This is an important reminder that school bus safety applies to everyone—including emergency responders. When a school bus has its red lights flashing, children may be entering or exiting the bus, and we must all take the necessary precautions to protect them.

With school back in session, please slow down, stay alert, and be aware of school buses, bus stops, and children in and around the roadway. Never pass a stopped school bus with its red lights activated.

A few extra seconds of caution can help prevent a tragedy. Let's all do our part to make sure our children get to and from school safely! 🚌🚒❤️
