Position Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant with a background in law enforcement. Preference will be given to candidates who are certified law enforcement officers, bringing valuable insight into departmental operations, procedures, and confidentiality standards.

This role supports command staff and officers by managing administrative functions, maintaining records, and ensuring smooth daily operations within the department.



Key Responsibilities

* Provide administrative support to command staff and law enforcement personnel
* Maintain and organize confidential records, reports, and case files
* Prepare correspondence, reports, and official documents
* Coordinate meetings, schedules, and departmental communications
* Assist with data entry and records management systems
* Handle phone calls, inquiries, and public interactions professionally
* Support evidence documentation and report processing as needed
* Ensure compliance with departmental policies and legal standards



Minimum Qualifications

* High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred)
* Current or prior certification as a law enforcement officer
* Strong knowledge of law enforcement procedures and terminology
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
* Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking skills
* Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
* Valid driver’s license

Update of the 06/08/2026 Stabbing on Main St in Clinton.

After further investigation it was alleged that Daniel Gordon (DOB: 03/10/1989) had gotten into a physical altercation with the victim. During that altercation it was reported that Gordon presented a knife and stabbed the victim numerous times in the chest.

It is reported that Gordon had fled on an on/off road dirt bike, later determined to be stolen out of Somerset County.

With the help of the Augusta Police Department, Gordon was located this morning in Augusta.

Gordon was transported to the Kennebec County Jail, where he is being held without bail on the charge of Elevated Aggravated Assault.

We would like to thank the Augusta Police Department for their help in locating Gordon, and Clinton Rescue for their care of the victim.

All persons are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The victim was transported by Clinton Rescue to the hospital.

We believe this is an isolated incident and that there is no threat to the public at this time.

📰 Major Crimes Detectives Arrest Clinton Man in Connection to Clinton Homicide 📰

On Thursday, May 21st, 2026, at approximately 3:20 PM, the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit-Central arrested 66-year-old James Simonson of Clinton in Clinton.

Simonson has been charged with Murder and Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person in connection with a shooting that occurred in late June of 2025, on Main Street in Clinton. As a result of the incident, 68-year-old William “Bill” Parent of Clinton died from the injuries he sustained.

An autopsy was conducted at the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, which determined the cause of death to be gunshot wounds and the manner of death homicide. Simonson was transported to the Kennebec County Jail where he is being held without bail. No further details will be released at this time.

Yesterday one of our residents lost his tackle box between the berry farm on battle ridge and his home on the hill road he went across the Goodrich road then left to his home.

We still have some items from our facebook fame days and certainly will reward you with a coffee mug if you return it.
He has several items in there that contain irreplaceable memories!
