🚒 FLOWING FOR SAFETY! 💦

It’s that time of year again, College Park! Over the next few weeks, you’ll see your College Park Fire Rescue teams out and about in the neighborhood doing our annual Fire Hydrant Inspections and Flushing. 👨‍🚒👩‍🚒

Why do we do this? 🤔
We aren't just giving the streets a quick rinse! Regular flushing is crucial because it:

Ensures proper water pressure and flow rates so we are always ready for an emergency.

Cleans out sediment from the water mains to keep the system clear.

Verifies mechanical operation of each hydrant so there are no surprises when seconds count.

What you might experience 🏡
While we maintain the system, you might notice a few temporary changes:

Low Water Pressure: You may experience a brief drop in water pressure while we are working on a hydrant near your street.

Discolored Water: The flushing process stirs up natural mineral deposits, which can temporarily turn your tap water a yellowish or brownish tint.

💡 Quick Tip: If your water looks discolored, don't panic! Just run your cold water tap for a few minutes until it runs completely clear before doing laundry or cooking.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to keep College Park safe, prepared, and ready to respond. If you see us out there, give us a wave! 👋

🚫 Annual Summer Burn Ban Begins May 1

The Georgia Environmental Protection Division’s annual summer burn ban goes into effect tomorrow for 54 counties, primarily in and around metro Atlanta.

This seasonal ban is in place each year to help protect air quality during the summer months and will remain in effect through October 1.

⚠️ What this means:
➡️ Open burning is not permitted in the affected counties during this time
➡️ The ban is separate from current wildfire-related restrictions in other parts of the state

If you live in or near metro Atlanta, be sure to check if your county is included and plan accordingly.
