Today, our Ohio Veterans Homes (OVH) Superintendent, Kaitlin Stokes, had the honor of speaking at the Annual Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Department of Ohio Convention. She addressed questions from attendees about the Ohio Veterans Homes and shared how planned improvements will strengthen the care, dignity, and quality of life we provide to Ohio’s veterans.

We’re grateful for the partnership and engagement of the DAV community as we work together to build a stronger future for those who served. Superintendent Stokes’ leadership and commitment continue to move our mission forward, and we’re excited for what’s ahead.

In 2019, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine signed Senate Bill 77, designating June 12 as Women Veterans Day in Ohio. And today, we proudly honor the courage, service, and sacrifice of the more than 67,000 women veterans who call Ohio home.

Women have served in every era of our nation’s history, often quietly, often without recognition, but always with unwavering strength and commitment.

From the nurses and codebreakers of WWII, to the trailblazers who broke barriers in combat roles, to the women leading today’s military with excellence: you are a vital part of our nation’s story.

To all Ohio women veterans:
Thank you for your service. Thank you for your leadership. And thank you for paving the way for future generations.

Happy Women Veterans Day.

Yesterday ODVS Director Harris was honored to participate in a panel discussion at the 3rd annual Military-Connected Student Symposium at the Ohio Statehouse.
