A huge thank you to everyone who rolled up their sleeves for our Red Cross Blood Drive!

Thanks to our amazing community, we collected 23 units of blood. This drive has the potential to impact up to 69 patients in need!

We are so proud of our community's generosity and partnership with the American Red Cross. Together, we are saving lives!

Last Friday our officers responded to a call about a cat left behind at Mitchell Hall. We couldn't leave him on his own, so we brought him back to the department for a meal and safe shelter before safely transferring him to the Humane Society, where he'll get the care he deserves!

Leaving a pet behind puts them in extreme danger from weather, traffic, and predators. Beyond the risk to the animal, abandoning a pet is illegal.

We understand life changes can make pet care overwhelming. If you can no longer care for an animal, never abandon them. Instead:

Contact Local Shelters: Reach out to the Humane Society or local rescue groups about surrender options. Attached is a link for assistance.

In law enforcement, we often meet people on their hardest days. But some of the absolute best moments of the job come later, when you get to watch those same people turn things around and succeed.

A year ago, I met .alexis.37 when he was going through a tough stretch and couldn't see a clear path forward. Today, he stopped by to visit! He’s now thriving at his new college, holding down a 3.5 GPA, and is just one year away from earning his degree.

Seeing him doing so well is a great reminder of why we do what we do. Keep putting in the work! You’ve earned every bit of your success!

Leading by Example: Columbus State Officers Commit to Higher Ed & Student Success

At Columbus State, "Student Success" is a mission shared across our entire campus—including the police department keeping us safe!

Turning an unexpected pandemic pause into a path for professional growth, these officers leaned on each other to achieve remarkable milestones:

🎓 Sgt. Jeff Dodge – Master’s in Public Administration
🎓 Lt. Tracy Anderson – Master’s in Criminal Justice Administration
🎓 Sgt. Laura Diamond – Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice (now pursuing an MBA!)
🎓 Officer Megan Hale – Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice
🎓 Officer Arlie Mills – Currently working toward his Bachelor’s degree

Supported by Chief Sean Asbury (himself currently pursuing a Doctorate!), the department is actively building a culture of lifelong learning and preparing future leaders from within.

By pursuing their own degrees, our officers model the exact dedication and spirit of achievement we celebrate in our students every day. 👏✨

This sweet boy had a rough start after being left behind all alone at a local bus stop on Thursday. Thankfully, one of our compassionate students spotted him and called CSPD. Officer Crosby safely transported him to the Franklin County Dog Shelter & Adoption Center off Morse Rd so he can get the care, food, and love he deserves. He did not have a collar and was not microchipped.

Our officers described him as "energetic" and "very friendly." He seemed to love us as much as we all love dogs! If you are interested in meeting him, stop by the shelter!
