On behalf of Coplay Police Department my deepest condolences to the Central Berks Regional Police Department, the family of Officer Kristen Yeager, and all first responders affected by this tragic loss.

This loss is personal for me having worked alongside Officer Yeager years ago. We still talked to one another frequently until her end of watch. I pray for her family and three children who have lost their biggest supporter, taking them to all their sporting events, fueling up their four wheelers, and organizing their back packs. She was an inspiring officer with a fierce spirit and deserved to serve a long career.

We honor Officer Yeager’s dedication, service, and sacrifice, and we will never forget her. Please remember when the uniform comes off we still have our families to go home to. To care for, take to soccer and baseball, cook meals for, and watch grow up. 💙🖤

On May 9th, a former retired officer from our department suffered a devastating house fire. Thankfully, everyone made it out safely, however the home was a total loss.

Anyone wishing to assist during this difficult time may do so through the verified 'Fund the First' online fundraiser link below, or by dropping off donations at the Coplay Police Headquarters. Gift cards for groceries, home improvement stores, general merchandise retailers, and restaurants would be especially appreciated while he and his family are displaced and begin rebuilding.

During National Police Week, we are incredibly grateful for the support and kindness shown by our community — especially the students and staff of Gockley and Steckel Elementary Schools for the thoughtful coloring pages and heartfelt messages that brightened our department.

We would also like to thank the Whitehall-Coplay School District administration office for coordinating this meaningful gesture, as well as Redner’s Markets for generously donating the gift card used to provide snacks for our officers throughout the week.

Yesterday, Mayor Pro Tem Rick Kern officially swore in Fatima Zimmer as the department’s newest Part-Time Police Officer. Officer Zimmer was joined by members of the department during the ceremony as she took the oath to proudly serve and protect the Borough of Coplay.

We are excited to welcome Officer Zimmer to our team and wish her a safe and successful career. Congratulations, Officer Zimmer! 🚓👏

For Police Week, Ofc. Dunleavy visited the Gockley Elementary K-1 Life Skills class. The students had an amazing time learning about the Police, calling 911 for help, and seeing the equipment we use on a typical day as a Police Officer. We can confirm and have a new record of 11 K-1 students that can fit in our Dodge Charger at once! Happy Police Week and thank you Gockley Elementary for the opportunity to share the experience with your students.
