City of Coppell, TX Municipal Government

In early September, the City of Coppell announced that it would begin passing credit card transaction fees on to customers effective October 1, 2020. Due to unforeseen circumstances and technological delays with our vendors, we have decided to delay the transfer of fees to customers until November 1, 2020.

Why are we making this change? Historically, credit cards fees charged to the City when residents elected to pay for services via credit card were absorbed by the City, meaning that all Coppell taxpayers and utility customers have contributed to these fee payments through property taxes and utility rates. In order to be more equitable, we will begin passing these transaction fees along to customers of the facility or service. Read more at http://bit.ly/coppellfees

Heads up, credit card users! The City's credit card processors, Automated Merchant Systems (AMS) and ActiveNet, charge a fee each time a credit or debit card is used to pay for a bill, fee, or service both online and in-person. Our credit card processor is working to conduct a study to determine the fee rate, but it is expected to be 3-3.5%.

To avoid these credit card fees at the Library, pay with cash for your printing and copying.

These fees, which are currently paid by the City and added up to $231,000 in fiscal year 2019, will now be passed onto the customer. Effective October 1, 2020, a credit card processing fee will show as a separate charge on your credit card statement for any payments made by credit card to the City of Coppell. Please be aware, the City of Coppell – with the exception of recreation facilities, including The CORE, BEC and Tennis Center – will be unable to process credit card transactions on Thursday, October 1, 2020.

UPDATE 09.25.2020: Due to unforeseen circumstances and technological delays with our vendors, we have decided to delay the transfer of fees to customers until November 1, 2020. Read more at http://bit.ly/coppellfees.

READ together! Did you know children's books have three times more rare words than conversation and 25% more than television? The more rare words a child knows, the easier it will be for them to learn to read when it's time for school and formal education.
