The 2026 Crofton Community Club Golf Tournament went well this year with great weather, even though we weren't sure this year was going to happen with the forecasted storms! It started with a little rain but that only lasted for 5 minutes, then sunshine all day. We were able to get in all 18 holes with 5 minutes to spare before the storms rolled in. Fred Dennis, Gavin de Shazer and Wyatt Gobel pulled all 20 plus rental carts back into the sheds during the downpour and were left soaked! After the tournament, everyone gathered back at the new clubhouse for the catered meal, followed by announcements for door prizes, pin prizes, and overall tournament winners. We had 23 teams and paid out 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in 3 different flights. Most teams were returning tournament players, so it was great to see the continued support.
Special thanks to Susie Hillman, Kendra Baily, Mike Kuchta, Gavin de Shazer, and Wyatt Gobel for volunteering time and efforts the day of the tournament. Clubhouse staff who worked and made sure everyone was taken care of throughout the day including: Luke DeBlauw, Susie Johnson, Fred Dennis, Grant Schieffer, Vanessa Sprakel, Lacey Sprakel, and Mckenna Hacecky. Doug and Juliet de Shazer and Doyle and Joyce Stevens for donating, making, and serving the meal and homemade potato chips. There were a lot of compliments on the food. Also thank you to Whitetail Properties-Jason Schendt for donating our raffle prize this year.
