Heritage Days Festival is almost here, September 12-13, 2026.
The Allegany County Historical Society would love to have your help.

Dress as a mid 1800s Pioneer crossing the Oregon Trail, supporting Pack Your Wagon for the kiddos. We have costumes available, including children’s sizes.

There are many short, easy, fun shifts available in a variety of capacities. No experience necessary. Volunteer as a family, with your organization, or friends. Show your kids how 1-2 hours of volunteering can make a big impact supporting our community.

We approve of you bribing them with funnel cake 😉

Sign up here.

Heritage Days is a community celebration of local history, culture, and connection, and volunteers are an important part of making the weekend welcoming and enjoyable for everyone. There are many ways to participate! Volunteer opportunities are available at the Courthouse Lawn, Gordon-Roberts House,...

The Washington Street Library will be open special hours, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Saturday, Sept. 12, in celebration of Heritage Days. Stop in to enjoy the festivities, explore the library and take part in this annual community tradition.

Join us for the Rock & Roll Petting Zoo with Savage Mountain Punk Arts at the Washington Street Library on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 1 to 4 p.m.

Ever wanted to bang on a drum kit, strum a guitar or play a synthesizer? Here's your chance. Teens and adults ages 12 and up can stop in to try out real rock instruments with guidance from local musicians. No experience necessary.
