Bias in the System: How Language Shapes Survivor Outcomes and How AI Can Help Us Do Better

On Wednesday, September 30 at 12:00 PM, Dr. Tamara Polajnar, CEO of herEthical AI, will explore how victim-blaming, coercive language, and patterns of coercive control can shape how survivors are understood, believed, and supported.

Participants will learn how harmful language can influence survivor outcomes, how coercive narratives can become part of institutional records, and how AI may help identify patterns of harmful language while keeping people at the center of decision-making.

What if sexual violence is not primarily about misunderstanding or mixed signals?

A new 2026 study examining anonymous survey responses from more than 2,600 young men challenges many of the narratives society often relies on to explain sexual violence. Researchers found that many participants described recognizing resistance, verbal refusals, intoxication, or discomfort and continuing anyway.

Our newest blog explores what these findings reveal about consent, entitlement, peer influence, and why prevention conversations may need to go deeper than communication alone.
