Big thanks to Columbia County Transportation for partnering with Valley Transit so Walla Walla riders can reach the new WinCo without the stress. We’re happy with the assist and excited to keep working together so more people across the Valley can get where they need to go. Even better, both providers are ZERO FARE. For the time being, this special WinCo run is available on Wednesdays only starting November 4th 2026.
How to ride:
Step 1: Reserve in advance. If you don’t reserve, you can’t ride.

Step 2: Call Columbia County Transportation at 509-382-1647 and give them your rider info plus how many people are traveling with you.
Once you’re reserved, here’s how the Wednesday run works:
Columbia County Transportation picks up reserved riders at Walmart at 10:45 a.m. and takes you straight to WinCo. Shoppers have until 12:00 p.m. to be out front with their groceries.
Columbia County then brings Valley Transit riders back to Walmart for the return trip to the Transfer Center.
Friendly reminder while you’re loading up: Bring only what you can carry comfortably and that won’t block seats, aisles, or the way for others to get on or off. No bags in the walkway or piled on empty seats, keep it neighborly so everyone has a smooth ride. Thanks again to our friends at Columbia County Transportation. It’s a win for shoppers and a win for the whole Valley.

🎉🚌 HAPPY 20-YEAR WORK ANNIVERSARY, DARLA! 🚌🎉

Today, Columbia County Public Transportation is proud to celebrate an incredible milestone — 20 years of dedicated service from our Operations Manager, Darla Miller! ❤️

For two decades, Darla has been more than just a familiar face at CCPT. She has been a dedicated part of our team, helping ensure that the people of Columbia County have access to the transportation they need to get to appointments, work, shopping, and the many other important places that make up their daily lives.

From her years behind the wheel as a driver to her time as a dispatcher and now as our Operations Manager, Darla has seen firsthand just how important public transportation is to the people we serve. Her journey reflects 20 years of commitment, compassion, hard work, and a genuine dedication to our communities.

Public transportation is about so much more than getting from one place to another. It's about independence, opportunity, connection, and making sure no one is left without a way to get where they need to go. For 20 years, Darla has been part of making that happen right here in Columbia County. 💙

🛒 WINCO & WALMART WEDNESDAYS ARE COMING TO CCPT! 🛍️
Starting Wednesday, October 28th, Columbia County Public Transportation will be offering weekly shopping trips to WinCo and Walmart in Walla Walla!
🚍 Pick-ups begin at 9:00 AM
🛒 WinCo arrival: 10:30 AM
🛍️ Walmart arrival: 10:45 AM
⏰ Return trips to Dayton:
➡️ WinCo: 12:00 PM
➡️ Walmart: 12:15 PM
📞 RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED!
Please call Columbia County Public Transportation ahead of time to reserve your seat. Space is limited, so don't wait!
Whether you need to stock up on groceries, do some shopping, or just want a ride to Walla Walla we've got you covered!

Every day, transit agencies across Washington help riders get to work, school, health care, shopping, appointments, and community activities without relying on a personal vehicle. Whether you are traveling locally or connecting to another community, your local transit agency’s customer service team and trip-planning tools can help you explore available options.
Week Without Driving is also a reminder that many people, because of age, disability, cost, safety concerns, or other circumstances, cannot drive. While transit makes many trips possible, gaps and barriers remain. We are listening, learning, and working toward transportation options that serve everyone.

Public transportation, in many ways, is like a bridge: you may cross it every day without giving it much thought, but the moment that bridge is no longer there, you realize just how essential it truly was.
For the past 14 years, I have been fortunate and honored to serve the Dayton community by helping provide the public transportation services our residents depend on. Throughout those years, I have also had the privilege of getting to know transit professionals and agencies across Washington State, people who, like us, are passionate, compassionate, and deeply committed to the communities they serve.
Transit is more than buses, routes, and schedules. We are a lifeline. In times of crisis, we do everything we can to find a way forward and be part of the solution. For many of the people we serve, public transportation is not simply a convenience, it is their only connection to medical care, family, work, essential services, and their community.
The photographs in this post are from Spokane Transit Authority during the devastating wildfires and evacuations. Entire neighborhoods were destroyed, families lost their homes, and more than 60,000 people were forced to evacuate.
What Spokane Transit Authority did during this crisis was nothing short of heroic. Working alongside emergency responders, their operators and staff helped evacuate the Spokane VA Medical Center, nursing homes, and residents in neighborhoods under evacuation orders. They stepped forward when their community needed them most.
This is what public transportation does.
We may not always be noticed when everything is working as it should. But when disaster strikes, when roads close, when families need to evacuate, and when people have nowhere else to turn, transit becomes a lifeline and the people behind those buses become part of the emergency response.
I am incredibly proud to be part of this profession and proud to stand alongside the transit agencies and dedicated people throughout Washington State who show, every day, that public transportation is about so much more than getting from one place to another.
We move people. We connect communities. And when our communities need us most, we show up.
