Disagreement is not disrespect.

Leadership means being willing to ask the hard questions, challenge decisions when necessary, and stand up for the residents you represent—even when it makes people uncomfortable.

Accountability is not a personal attack. Transparency is not hostility. And exercising oversight should never be viewed as a problem simply because someone doesn’t like the questions being asked.

We may disagree. We may debate. We may cast different votes.

That’s democracy.

What matters is that we never lose sight of who we are there to serve: the people.

At the end of the day, it’s not about personalities, politics, or egos. It’s about doing what is right for our community.

The proposed two lanes in Deerfield Beach on MLK is not about public safety. Don’t let the politicians, city officials and others fool you. A growing city of 85,000+ why would you wanna reduce lanes? It makes absolutely no sense at all. I want to see the beautification of MLK, just not this way.

District 2 Deserves Better

Come January, the people who live and travel along MLK Boulevard—from Hillsboro Boulevard to SW 10th Street—are going to have to live with the consequences of decisions being made about our neighborhood and our roadway.

The City appears to be moving forward with a project that will convert MLK Boulevard from a four-lane roadway into a two-lane divided roadway with a raised median. (Deerfield Beach)

And if the final design results in the streetscape becoming crowded with additional poles, signs, barriers and other infrastructure, we need to ask whether this is really what District 2 residents want. The poles will be put up in January for a trial run.

I grew up in this community. We live here. We drive this road every single day. We understand this neighborhood because we are the people who actually experience it—not politicians or decision-makers who don’t live here.

I also don’t believe District 2 should continually be treated as the testing ground for radical changes that residents did not ask for.

We keep hearing about public safety and speeding. But speeding is a citywide issue. Why does District 2 always seem to become the example used to justify major changes to our streets?

This isn’t about being against improvements. It’s about demanding common sense, transparency, accountability and meaningful community input.

Before decisions are made that will affect our neighborhood for years to come, the people who live here deserve to be heard.

District 2 is our community.
MLK Boulevard is our roadway.
And our voices matter.

Don’t let anyone make decisions about our neighborhood without listening to the majority of people who live here. The prior notification sign, that was put in the medium by McDonald’s on Hillsboro at the last minute. That idea, though the intentions was probably well, was much too late.
