Deerfield Police Department 850 Waukegan Road, Deerfield, IL 60015, Emergency: 9-1-1, Non-Emergency: 847-945-8636 History
In 1840, Deerfield Township was known by the name of Leclair.

What is now known as Deerfield was originally settled in 1835. The name Deerfield was given around 1849 or 1850 when townships were being formed in Lake County. Deerfield was named for Deerfield, Massachusetts, and also be- cause of the deer abounding in this area. The Village of Deerfield was incorporated in 1903 and at that time the Police Department consisted of a constable who had many other d

uties. In 1906 there were eight automobiles in Deerfield and the speed limit was eight miles per hour. Fines ranged from $10 to $50 for exceeding the limit. In 1927, the Village had its first jail and it was housed, along with the Village offices, in the Ma- sonic Temple. In 1939, a second policeman was hired by the Village as a night patrolman. The Police Department, located at 850 Waukegan Road, was remodeled in 2001. The Department is made up of thirty-nine sworn Police Officers, one Community Services Officer, ten Telecommunicators, an Administrative Secretary, two Records Clerks, two members of Social Services, and nine Crossing Guards. The police fleet is made up of ten marked vehicles, and seven unmarked squad cars.

FEEL GOOD FRIDAY - PART 2! The Deerfield Police Department is proud to share the success of our Pack the Place fundraiser held in February! Thanks to the incredible efforts, energy, and support from the students of Shepard Middle School - District 109 , we were able to donate $3,223.00 to 100 Club of Illinois during the Police Memorial Week.

This event continues to be a great example of what can happen when students, staff, and the community come together for a meaningful cause. The hard work and dedication shown by Shepard students helped ensure another successful fundraiser supporting the families of first responders.

Thank you to everyone who participated, donated, cheered, and helped make this event a success. We are proud to partner with such an amazing school community! ๐Ÿš”๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ’™

FEEL GOOD FRIDAY! Congratulations to Deerfield Detectives David Hardt and Quinn Curren on receiving a Unit Command Award for their outstanding work with the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force (NORTAF) Burglary Task Force.

On May 1, 2026, task force members collaboratively investigated a burglary pattern affecting several communities, including Lake Forest, Northfield, Long Grove, Lincolnshire, and Riverwoods. During prolonged surveillance, the offenders also entered Glencoe and Highland Park, where they committed a residential burglary and a burglary to a house of worship.

Through the clever use of technology, strong teamwork, and skilled investigative work, the offenders were identified and apprehended.

At the May 21, 2026 Glencoe Village Board Meeting, the officers involved were recognized for their efforts with a Unit Command Award for conduct that was outstanding in every respect and for demonstrating a high degree of initiative as a group.

We congratulate Detective Hardt and Detective Curren for their dedication to duty, strong work ethic, and commitment to solving cases that impacted communities across the region.
