Today, I had the honor of attending the 2026 Fallen Officer Ceremony hosted by the Val Verde Sheriffโs Office. It was a beautiful and meaningful event dedicated to honoring the brave men who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving and protecting our community. ๐บ๐ธ๐ค๐
This yearโs ceremony was especially moving as it included the soft opening of the new memorial site โ a powerful reminder that our fallen officers will never be forgotten and their legacy will continue to live on for generations to come.
A special thank you to Road and Bridge Precinct 2 for working alongside Administrative Supervisor Crystal Denney on the new memorial site, including the cement work that helped bring this beautiful tribute together.
Thank you to Sheriff Joe Frank Martinez, Chief Gina Garcia, Chief Enrique Trevino, Administrative Supervisor Crystal Denney, County Attorney David Martinez, County Engineer Carlos Velarde, and everyone who played a part in organizing and making this heartfelt event possible. Your dedication, hard work, and commitment to honoring our fallen officers and supporting their families truly made this ceremony special and meaningful for our entire community.
I also want to acknowledge my former high school teacher, Dรฉborah Hernรกndez-Salinas. Seeing her there and knowing her familyโs personal connection to a fallen officer was deeply moving, and it added an even more personal reminder of the sacrifice behind this memorial and the families who carry that legacy every day.
It was truly inspiring to stand alongside families, law enforcement agencies, and community members as we paid our respects and reflected on the courage, dedication, and selflessness of these heroes.
May we always remember and honor those who gave everything in the line of duty. ๐๐ผ
