Denver Children's Advocacy Center

Denver Children's Advocacy Center PREVENT ABUSE - STRENGTHEN FAMILIES - RESTORE CHILDHOOD Our mission is to Prevent Abuse, Strengthen Families and Restore Childhood.

We accomplish our mission with integrated, research-based programming, a dedicated professional staff and volunteer board, the support of countless community partners, and individuals like you who understand the importance of our work. DCAC’s programs fall along a continuum of care that includes prevention, early childhood intervention, crisis response, forensic interviews, mental health treatment

, and family support services. Children and families access the services they need at any point in the continuum. We serve children in their homes, their schools and early learning centers, through telehealth, and at our child-friendly campus on Federal Boulevard. Understanding the many challenges our families face (for example: lack of transportation, distance, time) DCAC decided to offer services at various satellite offices in 2015 as well. You can learn more about the work we are doing on our website at www.denvercac.org.

Meet our summer interns!

As summer winds down, we’re sending a big thank you to the incredible interns who spent their summer learning, growing and contributing across DCAC. 💙

From supporting our Treatment & Assessment and Rapid Response teams to helping with Community Outreach and Family Advocacy, our interns brought curiosity, compassion and fresh perspectives to their work, and we’re grateful they chose to spend their summer with us.

We hope the experience they gained at DCAC stays with them as they continue their education and careers serving children, families and communities.

A big thank you to Canvas Credit Union for spending a morning giving back to DCAC families!

Volunteers rolled up their sleeves to assemble kits for our Family Market, including shower kits, self-care kits, nail kits, journaling kits, sports kits and more. Each one will help provide practical items and a little extra care to children and families receiving services at DCAC.

Canvas Credit Union also generously presented DCAC with a financial contribution to support our work with children and families. We’re incredibly grateful for their investment in our mission and their willingness to give both their time and resources.

Thank you, Canvas Credit Union, for showing up for Denver’s children and families! 💙

DCAC team members Hollie Reinhart, Amy Bell, Nicholas Stone, and Emma Skok, along with Dr. Coral Steffey of Denver Health, one of DCAC’s medical partners, attended the 38th Annual Dallas Children's Advocacy Center's Crimes Against Children Conference, joining professionals from across the country to learn, share best practices, and strengthen connections in the field.

One highlight was the Forensic Interviewer Forum, an informal session that brings forensic interviewers together to discuss emerging trends, share what they are seeing in their own communities, and explore where gaps may exist between research and practice.

Opportunities like the Crimes Against Children Conference help our team bring new knowledge, ideas, and connections back to DCAC, ensuring our work continues to reflect current research and best practices while learning from professionals doing this work across the country.

Okay, Colorado... we got a little taste of fall this week. 🍂

And while we know there are still plenty of summer adventures ahead, October 2nd will be here before you know it!

That means it's almost time for the 9th Annual Clays for Kids - Denver Children's Advocacy Center's biggest fundraising event of the year.

Join us at *Official* Colorado Clays for a morning of friendly competition, great food, and an even greater purpose. Whether you're bringing clients, coworkers, or friends, every team helps ensure children who have experienced abuse can receive the forensic interviews, therapy, family advocacy, and support they need at no cost to their families.

🎯 Team spots are filling quickly, so now's the time to register.
🤝 Sponsorship opportunities are still available for businesses looking to make an impact.

Let's welcome fall by making a difference for kids.

We're proud to celebrate DCAC's own Katt Lovejoy, Bilingual Community Connector, who partnered with Denver Public Schools Black Voices of Color Podcast and DPS Educa to support student interns as they produced bilingual (English and Spanish) podcast episodes focused on teen mental well-being.

Katt had the opportunity to mentor students throughout the production process and later joined them as a guest voice on the podcast, helping continue important conversations about mental health, belonging, trauma, and creating supportive spaces where young people can thrive.

At DCAC, we know that one of the most powerful ways to support children is by listening to them. We're grateful to Denver Public Schools for creating opportunities that empower students to share their experiences and educate their communities.

💙 Thank you, Katt, for helping ensure young people's voices are heard.
