Rocky Mountain Human Services is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that assists approximately 17,000 people across Colorado.

RMHS is a nonprofit organization that offers person-centered case management and direct services to improve the health, self-sufficiency, and overall quality of life for children, adults, and veterans in Colorado. Currently, we have the privilege of serving:

- Children with developmental delays and disabilities
- Adults with cognitive and intellectual disabilities
- Veterans in need of employment assistance or who are homeless or in jeopardy of losing their homes

Interested in a career in aerospace or aviation, or know someone who is looking for their next career step? Applications are open for Ascend: Aerospace, a free, virtual fellowship from Making Space for Coloradans with disabilities who are early in their careers. No prior aerospace experience is needed.

Fellows choose one of three career tracks:

🔹 Software, IT, and Cybersecurity
🔹 Program and Business Operations
🔹 Technicians and Skilled Trades

The fellowship starts in January and takes about 1–3 hours a week. It includes hands-on learning with Colorado aerospace employers, plus help understanding how working may affect your disability benefits. Veterans with disabilities are encouraged to apply.

Every dancer deserves a spotlight.

Colorado Ballet’s Be Beautiful Be Yourself program gives kids with Down syndrome and other intellectual and developmental disabilities a place to build strength, coordination, and confidence through dance. For the fifth year in a row, young dancers from the program have joined the professional company on stage.

When kids see themselves in places like the Ellie Caulkins Opera House, it changes what they believe is possible, and it changes what everyone in the audience believes too.

RMHS is pleased to announce Mariam Alami as our new Director of Denver Programs. In this role, Mariam will provide leadership across our Denver programs, including the Denver Mill Levy Program, Denver START, Mission Supports, and INCLUDE.

Mariam joined RMHS in 2022 as Program Manager for Denver START and has served as Associate Director since 2024. During her time with Denver START, she helped lead the program from its pilot phase to national certification while strengthening operations, quality standards, and community partnerships.

We’re excited to see Mariam bring the same focus on quality, collaboration, and community partnership to all of our Denver programs as she continues to strengthen support for Denver residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Last month, our team came together for the fourth annual RMHS Park-A-Palooza! Staff enjoyed lunch, ice cream, a raffle, and some well-deserved time together in the sunshine.
