Two East Haven’s Bravest were recognized today by the Yale Center for EMS. Firefighter / Paramedic Chris Hughes received a Unit Citation for a cardiac arrest save and Firefighter / Paramedic Joe Benzi was awarded Paramedic of the Year! Excellent work by both. The department is lucky to have you both! Keep up the good work!

Last week, staff from The Volley Chief visited the Wolcott Volunteer Fire Department for two nights of training, delivering The Art of Shutting Up: Fireground and Radio Communications for Volunteer Fire Departments.

This new two-hour program was presented over two evenings to more than 60 members and focused on:

* Fireground radio communications
* Radio systems basics
* Effective radio use during emergencies
* Clear, concise, disciplined communications under stress

What sets our programs apart is that The Volley Chief is staffed by experienced volunteer fire officers and incident commanders, bringing practical street-level experience—not just theory—to the classroom.

This new program now joins our other offerings, including The Volunteer Command Post and Volunteer Fire Officer.

The feedback has been tremendous, and the results are in.
