Go Team Go !!!

A vacant building that's been part of Detroit's west side for more than a century is getting a new purpose.

Detroit Blight Busters (Farm City Detroit) is transforming the former Woolworth building on Grand River Avenue into the Sunflower Arts Center, a 30,000-square-foot mixed-use space in Old Redford. Plans include classrooms for children, seven live/work artist spaces, retail space for local creators, and a neighborhood diner designed to bring the community together.

The $7 million project is expected to take about 12 to 18 months to complete. Organizers say the goal is to create more opportunities for artists, young people, and small businesses while continuing the revitalization of the Old Redford neighborhood.
