There’s much to be said for leaving fall leaves. With the help of a mulching mower, they become a natural fertilizer for your lawn. A 3-5 inch leaf layer around garden plants inhibits weeds, preserves soil moisture, and nourishes plants as leaves break down. A layer of leaves left intact provides important habitat for wildlife and insects. To reduce neighborhood flooding, keep leaves and other yard waste away from storm drains. Residents wishing to register to vote for the November 3, 2026 Election may do so in-person at City Hall, 3515 Broad St., Dexter, MI 48130, Monday - Friday (and Saturday, October 31st) from 9am - 5pm.

14+ days before an election, you can register in-person (at the Secretary of State or City Hall), mail-in your registration, or register online at michigan.gov/vote. Within 14 days of an election, residents must register to vote in-person at the Clerk's Office with either a valid driver's license showing the correct Dexter address, or a valid photo I.D. and proof of residency

For the fall 2026 road construction program, the contractor’s tentative two-week schedule is below. This schedule is subject to change and may be impacted by weather events.

Milling – 4th St: Wednesday, October 14th
Milling – 3rd St: Thursday, October 15th
Paving – 4th St: Friday, October 16th
Paving – 3rd St: Monday October 19th

Clean-up, restoration, storm and sanitary sewer structure adjustments, and pavement markings will follow the completion of milling and paving operations.

The City of Dexter is seeking an energetic, highly organized, and self-motivated Administrative Assistant. Under the supervision of the City Manager, this position is responsible for receptionist duties at the City offices, cash handling, park use permit review, supporting the City’s social media communications efforts, providing support services for members of staff, and may perform other work as assigned.

🍂 It’s that time of year again-leaf collection season!🍂 Here are a few quick reminders to help the collection process run smoothly!

• Park cars as far away from leaf piles as
possible.
• Make sure that there is no debris in the
leaf piles (garbage, sticks, pumpkins, etc.)
• Leaves should be raked in a line (windrow)
as close to the curb as possible and not
placed into the road, ditches, storm
drains or parking places.
• The closer the piles are to the curb, the
quicker they are able to be collected by
the equipment.
