A Note from Molly -
You may have heard the news that I’ve taken a position at a different library. It was a really hard decision to leave DHL because it’s been so fun getting to know the Dimondale community and working with Kate and Janine. I’ve enjoyed chatting about books and life, making slime, and learning new things with you all. I’m lucky that my time as Program and Outreach Coordinator allowed me to be out in the community, e.g. hosting Trivia at Dimes, and out in front of the desk, leading boisterous storytimes or making messes with glue and paint. Together, we’ve filled this library with so much joy, laughter, and life in the past few years! But being behind the desk, too, is a gift.

Us library workers get to witness your daily minutiae like checking out a book, asking us a question, or getting help on the computer. All of these add up to the larger seasons of life. Behind the desk, I’ve seen kids develop passions for reading, neighbors getting to know each other, people navigating hardships - all of life’s ebbs and flows. It’s a beautiful (and privileged) way to bear witness to humanity.

The library is in such an exciting position now with the new space it’s gained. Kate, I know, is working tirelessly to create a cozy and welcoming space to best serve you all. Plus, you’ll start to see some new friendly faces around here too. I can’t wait to see how the library continues to grow!

What would your "Michigan Library Staff" costume look like? 😆🎃👻

Already wondering what you're going to be for Halloween? Look no further.

Might we suggest... Michigan Library Staff?
Includes everything you need to look like you’ve fixed the printer twice, covered a desk shift, and somehow acquired three more pens before lunch.

MI Library folks: what did we forget to include? 👇
(And if THIS costume isn’t your style, dress up in your favorite literary costume when we see you at MLA Annual Conference in October! 🎃📚)

Edit: My apologies for missing the misspelled word: book tap is suppose to be book "tape"! 👀
