🐝💗 Girls on the Run is coming back to Spring Valley Elementary! 🏃‍♀️✨

Girls on the Run is an amazing after-school program for 3rd, 4th & 5th grade girls that combines fun, movement, friendship, and important life skills. The program meets twice a week for 10 weeks and ends with a celebratory 5K! 🎉

Parents, stop by the Girls on the Run table at Open House tomorrow in the GYM! We’ll be there to answer questions and help you learn more about:

✨ Registering your 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade girl
✨ How you can help as a coach
✨ Volunteer opportunities
✨ What to expect from the program

Registration opens soon, so come by and learn how your girl can be part of this awesome experience! 💕🏃‍♀️🐝

Important new change in communication for DPS parents!

📱 ICYMI: A new way to stay connected with your child’s teachers!

For the 2026–2027 school year, Durham Public Schools is using TalkingPoints for teacher-family communication. The platform makes it easy for families and teachers to stay connected throughout the school year, with messages available in families’ preferred languages.

Be on the lookout for more information from your child’s school about using TalkingPoints.

🖍️Kindergarten Staggered Entry🖍️
All Kindergarten students will participate in staggered entry. This means your child will attend school 2 days during the first week of school between August 24-August 28.

📌Kindergarten Class List📌
Class lists for Kindergarten will not be finalized until we have completed Staggered Entry. There are Kindergarten class size state mandates that we must adhere to in creating classes, along with making sure classes are balanced. You should not send request for specific teachers.

👩🏽‍🏫Kindergarten Meet the Teacher🧑‍🏫
There will be a Meet the Teacher for Kindergarten students and parents on Thursday, August 27th from 3:30-5:00 PM.
