Senator Valverde doesn't want the Inspector General to be able to oversee the General Assembly. She voted no to this reasonable amendment that would enhance oversight for taxpayers.

🚨 URGENT: Parents should not be trapped by their ZIP code. Students should not be punished because politicians want to protect a broken status quo.

The charter school moratorium, H7415 / S2787, is headed to the House floor for a final vote.

This bill would stop the creation and expansion of charter public schools in Rhode Island for three years, through the 2028 to 2029 school year.

Before this bill passes, contact the Speaker of the House and the Governor and urge them to protect educational opportunity for Rhode Island families.

Rhode Island families deserve more options, more opportunity, and more say in their children’s education.

Senator Bridget Valverde continues to put Providence special interests ahead of East Greenwich families and small business owners. On June 9th, she cast a yes vote for the massive $15.2 billion state budget that includes a new “millionaires tax”- a tax increase that will hit hard anyone selling a business, retiring, or having a strong year.

This is the same budget that raises taxes on working service industry employees by taxing tips and advances policies that will drive up energy costs for every Rhode Island household through higher fossil fuel-related charges passed directly on to consumers. East Greenwich deserves better than higher taxes on small business owners, hardworking servers, and families already struggling with high costs. It’s time for new leadership that actually represents our town.
