This Memorial Day, we join residents across our communities in honoring and remembering the courageous men and women who gave their lives in service to the United States.

Their sacrifice and dedication to our nation will never be forgotten. As we gather with family and friends this holiday weekend, we encourage everyone to take time to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms.

We also encourage residents to attend Memorial Day parades, ceremonies and community observances taking place throughout Preble County as we come together in remembrance and gratitude.

🇺🇸 Memorial Day Holiday Closure Notice 🇺🇸

The Preble County Courthouse and county offices will be closed on Monday, May 25, in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.

County offices will reopen for regular business hours on Tuesday, May 26.

As we observe Memorial Day, Preble County honors and remembers the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Today, Commissioners also recognized retiring Sheriff's Captain Matthew Lunsford with an official proclamation honoring his more than 34 years of dedicated service to the citizens of Preble County.

Captain Lunsford began his career with the in 1992 and served in numerous roles throughout his career, including corrections officer, road patrol deputy, K-9 officer, fi****ms instructor and road patrol supervisor. In 2023, he was promoted to captain.

Thank you, Captain Lunsford, for your professionalism, leadership and commitment to keeping Preble County safe. We wish you all the best in your retirement! 🇺🇸

🎉 Congratulations Olivia Bradley! 🎉

The Preble County Commissioners officially recognized Olivia during Wednesday’s commission meeting with a proclamation honoring her first-place finish in the 2026 Rotary District 6670 Four-Way Speech Contest. 👏

Olivia, a junior at Eaton High School, earned top honors with her speech titled “Why Not Me?” — a presentation focused on how an empowered mindset can completely change a person’s life. After winning the competition, Olivia advanced to the district contest, where she competed against students from Montgomery, Butler, Clark, Logan, Greene, Warren and Hamilton counties and again earned first place.

In addition to her speech accomplishments, commissioners recognized Olivia for her academic success and extensive involvement both at school and in the community.

Congratulations, Olivia, on this outstanding accomplishment! 🇺🇸
