Mrs. Emmy Metri’s story is one of vision, perseverance, and deep commitment to her community.
Born in Cairo, Egypt, she immigrated to the United States in 1985 with the hope of building a brighter future. It was here that she found her calling in early childhood education, beginning her journey as a Montessori teacher and dedicating herself to the growth and development of young learners.
With determination and an entrepreneurial spirit, Mrs. Metri opened her own preschool program in District 3 in 1998. Since then, she has played a vital role in shaping the lives of countless children by creating a safe, supportive, and enriching environment where they can learn and thrive.
Her impact has been amplified through meaningful partnerships with organizations such as Options for Learning, the Mexican American Opportunity Foundation, and Foothill Family Services. Through these collaborations, she has helped expand access to essential educational resources and strengthened support systems for families in the community.
Mrs. Metri is a proud mother who has raised two accomplished attorneys, a reflection of the same values of hard work, education, and perseverance that she has instilled in her students and community.
For her exceptional leadership, compassion, and unwavering dedication to improving the lives of children and families, it is a true honor to recognize Mrs. Emmy Metri as El Monte District 3’s Woman of the Year.
