The Canutillo ISD Board of Trustees has approved a lower tax rate for 2026-27, dropping from $1.1525 to $1.1468 per $100 of assessed property value. The District also begins the year with a balanced $65.7 million budget, keeping the focus on responsible stewardship while continuing to invest in student success.

Locking in progress! 🔒 ✂ 🎀

Students and staff at Gonzalo & Sofia Garcia Elementary cut the ribbon on $6.3 million in Canutillo ISD Bond 2024 upgrades designed to help students learn safe and sound!

From a new secure entry vestibule and upgraded security systems to cooler classrooms, stronger Wi-Fi and new interactive whiteboards, Garcia got quite the glow-up.

And here’s another reason to feel secure about this investment: the project was completed ahead of schedule and under budget. Saving about $180,000!

Weather-Related Event Updates

🏀Due to transportation issues affecting the visiting teams, all middle school basketball games scheduled for Canutillo and Alderete have been canceled.

🏐 The Canutillo High School varsity volleyball game against El Paso High postponed Tuesday has been rescheduled for 6:30 p.m. today at Canutillo High School.

Canutillo ISD is closely monitoring the rain and weather conditions in our region and remains in communication with local emergency response officials. We are prepared to act quickly if conditions require a change.

For today, schools will limit outdoor activities, but instruction will continue as normal.

Any changes to instructional or extracurricular schedules will be communicated directly to parents and shared with our community.

Tooth be told… Childress Eagles have some seriously bright smiles! 😁🦷

Our friends at EP Dentistry 4 Kids brought the dental fun to campus, giving our students checkups, cleanings, goodie bags and plenty of reasons to smile.

Even Goldie hopped into the dental chair for a little smile maintenance. 🪥 We’re happy to report: Still handsome. Still smiling. Still ready to fly!

Superintendent Dr. Josue Borrego joined the superintendents of our neighboring school districts Monday evening for a conversation with TALAS El Paso about voter-approved school bond referendums.

Dr. Borrego shared an update on the 2024 Canutillo Bond Program, highlighting that all bond projects are currently ahead of schedule and below budget.

It was great to connect with educators from neighboring districts and share the progress we’re making as we modernize Canutillo schools and prepare for our community’s future.

Canutillo ISD is getting ready to welcome the Special Olympics to the Smurf Turf!

On Monday, we were proud to join the El Paso County Commissioners Court for a special proclamation celebrating the continuation of this amazing program and the athletes who inspire us all.

Canutillo showed up in force, with Superintendent Dr. Josue Borrego, our Canutillo High School cheerleaders and our color guard proudly representing the Orange and Blue!

We can’t wait to welcome all of the Special Olympics athletes to Coach Julius & Irene Lowenberg Eagles Stadium on May 8, 2027!

Let’s get ready to cheer them on, Canutillo! 🦅

We love seeing our older students go above and beyond, looking out for our littlest Eagles and even walking them straight to their classrooms.

🌹 Roses for our queens! 👑🏀

During their final home game, the Alderete Middle School basketball players took a moment to thank the moms who cheered them on all season. Each player gave his mom a rose in the stands as a small gesture of appreciation for the love, support and sacrifices that helped make this such a great season for the Eagles.
