Monday's start of the 2026-27 school year was, without a doubt, a tremendous success for Canutillo ISD.

I had the privilege of visiting campuses, stepping into classrooms and welcoming families as they arrived for the first day of school. What I saw was nothing short of inspiring. Our schools were organized, our employees were welcoming and our students were excited to return to a place where they are known, supported and cared for.

What a Canutillo Bond transformation! 🤩

Swipe to see the incredible before-and-after of the Canutillo Elementary School library. Worn carpet is out. Beautiful new flooring, fresh paint and a bright new look are in — just in time to welcome students back.

The library is just one part of the campus-wide bond improvements, which also include new HVAC units, enhanced safety and security upgrades, updated instructional technology and new playground canopies.

A fresh space for new stories, new ideas and new opportunities. 📚✨

Canutillo ISD teachers continue to prove they're among the very best! 🌟

More than half of Canutillo ISD teachers have earned the prestigious Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) designation, recognizing outstanding classroom performance and rewarding excellence with thousands of dollars in annual state-funded bonuses.

Even better, the program has expanded, allowing more than 90% of CISD teachers the opportunity to earn this distinguished designation and bonuses of up to $18,000.

Safety and security remain our top priority at Canutillo ISD.

Thanks to the Canutillo Bond, Damian Elementary School, along with every renovated campus across the District, now features a secure entry vestibule that adds another layer of protection for our students and staff.

These secure vestibules allow school staff to screen and verify visitors before they are granted access beyond the front entrance, helping ensure only those who need to be on campus can enter instructional areas.

Every student deserves a safe place to learn, and these improvements help us provide that safe and secure learning environment.

Congratulations to Davenport Elementary School Principal Veronica Cervantes on being named president-elect of the Texas Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents (TALAS) El Paso Chapter!

Ms. Cervantes has been a dedicated member of TALAS for many years, and we are proud to see her elected to this leadership role. Her commitment to serving students, supporting educators and advancing public education makes her an outstanding choice to lead the chapter next year.

Canutillo High School pharmacy tech students are putting their skills into practice by organizing prescriptions by medical function as they build their lab experience. This cohort continues gaining healthy doses of confidence, ambition and knowledge.
