A 20-year-old with a YouTube channel just outdid every A24 movie ever made. A $1M indie beat a $165M Disney blockbuster. For years, Hollywood feared Gen Z had abandoned cinema.

Turns out they were just waiting for someone their age to make something worth showing up for. The next Spielberg didn't go to film school, they went to YouTube.

Hollywood has been telling us what movies are supposed to look like for a century. This weekend, Gen Z said, "No thanks."

Stop waiting for permission. The audience is ready.
