Join us on Thursday, October 22, at 6:00 PM for a radon education session! This program is free and open to the public, no registration necessary.

Gilmer County sits in one of Georgia's highest-risk areas for radon — an invisible, odorless gas found in the granite-rich soil under North Georgia homes. It's the second-leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S., yet most homeowners have never tested for it.

Learn what radon is, how it gets into your home, its health effects, and how to test for and mitigate it. This session is presented by Rebecca Cantrell, MPH, Radon Educator with the UGA Radon Program.

(Audience: Youth) Join us as we use some brain power to play checkers and chess. No registration required; all children must be accompanied by an adult.

Morning Handcrafters

(Audience: Adults) A drop-in gathering for creative adults. Bring whatever you're working on — crochet, diamond art, scrapbooking, all crafts welcome! Don't have a project? We'll have supplies on hand to get you started.

Teen DIY: Sew Your Own Ghost
Wednesday, October 21, 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM
(Audience: Teens) Use felt and thread to sew your own creepy, cuddly ghost. No sewing experience needed! While supplies last. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. This program is intended for 6th - 12th grade students.

Family Storytime

(Audience: Youth) Join us for Family Storytime! Storytime involves: books, fingerplays/singalongs and a craft. No registration required but all children must be accompanied by an adult.

Our Community Room still smells AMAZING after this afternoon's Apple Pie Spice program! Patrons measured and mixed a fragrant blend of cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and cloves to take home. Special thanks to the Friends of the Gilmer County Library for providing refreshments that fit the theme! 🍎 🍏 What seasoning or spice blend should we make next time?
