Finding Peace in a Frantic World
Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center Announces Free 8-Week Mindfulness Series

Life can feel overwhelming, particularly when cancer becomes part of the journey. This fall, the Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center invites you to slow down, reconnect, and discover practical ways to bring greater calm and balance into everyday life.

Beginning Thursday, October 1, 2026, instructor Jen Harry will lead a free 8-week mindfulness series based on the book Mindfulness: An 8-Week Plan for Finding Peace in a Frantic World.
The series is designed to help participants develop practical mindfulness skills that can support stress reduction, emotional wellness, and greater balance in daily life.

Choose the Time That Works for You
Sessions will be held every Thursday for eight weeks, with two options available:

Morning Session: 10:00–11:30 a.m.
Afternoon Session: 1:00–2:30 p.m.

Jen will facilitate the program in person at the Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center in Ellsworth. Participants may also attend from our Baileyville Center via Polycom, where staff will be available onsite for support.

Can't make it to either Center? A Zoom option is also available, making it possible to participate from home.

New to Mindfulness? You Are Welcome!
You don't need any previous mindfulness or meditation experience to participate. The series welcomes all experience levels, from someone exploring mindfulness for the first time to those with intermediate or advanced practices.

The program is open to anyone impacted by cancer including patients, survivors, and caregivers as well as members of the general public.

Participants will receive materials to support their eight-week journey, including the program book, participant workbook/journal, pen, and additional materials.

More than simply attending a weekly class, this series offers an opportunity to develop skills that participants can continue using long after the eight weeks have ended.

We are planning an exciting lineup of fall programs and activities at the Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center in Baileyville and throughout Washington County!

We have been talking with Autumn Clifford of She’s An Asset about returning to Washington County this fall to offer women’s safety and awareness classes. Autumn is excited to return, and we are exploring opportunities to hold multiple classes at locations throughout Washington County. Stay tuned for confirmed dates, times, locations, and registration information!

An eight-week knitting class is also being planned for this fall, beginning in early October. Beginners, intermediate knitters, and advanced knitters are all welcome! Led by instructor Judy McGinley, the class will provide a friendly and supportive environment where participants can learn new skills, work on projects, and enjoy connecting with others.

The cost will be $10 per session. The Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center will have knitting needles and basic supplies available for participants to use. A limited number of knitting kits, including yarn, will also be available for a donation. Participants are welcome to bring their own needles, yarn, and current projects. We have also invited Paige Fitch to host a festive Fall Paint and Snack Night, tentatively planned for mid-to-late September or early October. Participants will enjoy creating a seasonal painting while sharing delicious snacks and spending a relaxing evening together. We will share the date, time, cost, and registration information as soon as the details are confirmed.

Graze Downeast is also working on a date for a fall charcuterie board night. In the spirit of giving back, attendees may be invited to bring a food item to donate to our Home Cooked Healing program, which provides nourishing meals to individuals and families affected by cancer.
