🚨Incident Alert🚨
On July 4th, at approximately 1:13 a.m., the Emerado Fire Department was dispatched to the 2500 block of 17th Ave NE in rural Emerado for a report of an active structure fire.
EVFD responded with one engine, one tanker, one rescue unit, and seven firefighters. Upon arrival, crews discovered an active fire involving the second story of a barn. As firefighters prepared to deploy hose lines and begin fire suppression operations, the second story of the structure began to collapse. Fire conditions rapidly changed as flames spread throughout the remaining portions of the barn and embers created additional hazards, igniting nearby grass areas and causing secondary exposure fires.
Due to the size of the fire, water supply needs, and additional manpower requirements, assistance was requested from the Grand Forks Air Force Base Fire Department and the Larimore Volunteer Fire Department. Also assisting on scene were the Grand Forks County Sheriff's Office, Altru Health System Ambulance, and Nodak Electric.
Fire crews worked together to contain the fire, protect surrounding exposures, and extinguish remaining hot spots. Crews remained on scene until the fire was fully extinguished, at approximately 05:45 am.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The Emerado Fire Department would like to thank all responding agencies for their assistance and teamwork during this incident.
