🥵☀️ Mother Nature is apparently trying to see if we’re all medium-rare this weekend… ☀️🥵

Dangerous heat is headed our way!

🌡️ Saturday: Heat Index 95°–105°F
🌡️ Sunday & Monday: Heat Index 105°–110°F

💧 Drink plenty of water (yes… actual water, not just coffee or beer 🍺😄), take breaks if you’re working outside, and check on your family, neighbors, and pets.

🚗 If your steering wheel feels like it’s fresh off the grill, imagine what a parked vehicle feels like. Never leave children or pets inside—even for a minute.

Stay cool, use common sense, and let’s make sure the only thing getting roasted this weekend is the burgers. 🍔

🇺🇸🦅 HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY FROM EVFD! 🦅🇺🇸

It’s that beautiful time of year when we celebrate America’s birthday the only way we know how…

🔥 Grilling questionable amounts of meat
🎆 Lighting colorful explosives we bought “just a few more of”
🇺🇸 Wearing red, white, and blue on everything possible
🦅 And proudly yelling… MURICA!

All jokes aside — have fun, make memories, and please celebrate safely. We love our community, but we’d rather wave at you during the parade than show up because your backyard accidentally became the grand finale. 🚒😂

Remember:
🎇 Fireworks go in the air — not toward people, houses, dry grass, or Uncle Bob who said “watch this.”
💧 Keep water nearby
🧹 Clean up those firework leftovers (they can stay hot longer than you think!)

From all of us at the Emerado Volunteer Fire Department — have a safe, happy 4th of July! 🇺🇸🐾🚒

🚨Incident Alert🚨

On July 4th, at approximately 1:13 a.m., the Emerado Fire Department was dispatched to the 2500 block of 17th Ave NE in rural Emerado for a report of an active structure fire.

EVFD responded with one engine, one tanker, one rescue unit, and seven firefighters. Upon arrival, crews discovered an active fire involving the second story of a barn. As firefighters prepared to deploy hose lines and begin fire suppression operations, the second story of the structure began to collapse. Fire conditions rapidly changed as flames spread throughout the remaining portions of the barn and embers created additional hazards, igniting nearby grass areas and causing secondary exposure fires.

Due to the size of the fire, water supply needs, and additional manpower requirements, assistance was requested from the Grand Forks Air Force Base Fire Department and the Larimore Volunteer Fire Department. Also assisting on scene were the Grand Forks County Sheriff's Office, Altru Health System Ambulance, and Nodak Electric.

Fire crews worked together to contain the fire, protect surrounding exposures, and extinguish remaining hot spots. Crews remained on scene until the fire was fully extinguished, at approximately 05:45 am.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Emerado Fire Department would like to thank all responding agencies for their assistance and teamwork during this incident.
