Admit it, you're just as invested in the Steve the Potato saga as we are. 😍

Back in April, Miss Kirkland's students held a funeral for their beloved class pet, Steve the Potato. If you missed the story, you can catch up here: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/18Tc8CLBSh/

Well, we have exciting news...Steve lives! 🥔🌱

We can't wait to see what the 2026–2027 school year holds for Steve, and possibly even his descendants. Stay tuned! 📰

Parents & Guardians: An Important Immunization Reminder - As required by Alabama School Immunization Law (Code of Alabama 16-30-4): Alabama schools must ensure that every student presents a valid Certificate of Immunization or an approved exemption.* A child may register/enroll, but may not attend school until this requirement is met. When school starts on August 7, if your child is up-to-date on his or her immunizations and has an up-to-date Certificate on file at Eufaula City Schools, then no further steps are required.

*Exemptions include:
Medical Exemption – issued by your child's Primary Care or Specialty Physician
Religious Exemption – issued by your local Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH)
Homeless under Federal Law – consult your school counselor or administrator for guidance

How to Obtain an Alabama Certificate of Immunization ("Blue Card"):
💉If your child is UP-TO-DATE on immunizations, but does not have a "Blue Card" on file at ECS:
- A school nurse can transfer a valid certificate from another U.S. state
- For records from outside the U.S., visit a Barbour County Public Health Department location to transfer them onto an Alabama form.
- Dependents of active duty military personnel may use their military medical records as proof of immunization ("Blue Card").

💉If your child is NOT up-to-date on his or her immunizations:
- You may visit a Department of Public Health location, a walk-in clinic, or contact your physician for an appointment. Fees and vaccine availability may vary.

Vaccines required are based on age and grade level per CDC and ADPH guidelines.

Looking for a creative summer activity? 🤔 Read a book and pair it with a hands-on experience inspired by the story. 📚 Mrs. Beasley's class brought a story to life this year after reading Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss. The students snacked on green eggs and ham just like the characters in the book! 💚
