Christmas in August?

Did you know that since 2007, lumber milled from the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree has been used in Habitat for Humanity homes from New York to Mississippi.

The wood of a Norway Spruce is more flexible and durable than lumber typically used for load-bearing walls, so it is ideal for blocking, flooring and cabinetry.

This week, we celebrated the 1-year anniversary of our Volunteer Center, and the impact has been incredible! 💙

In just one year, the Volunteer Center has:
✅ Supported the construction of 21 Habitat homes
✅ Saved an average of $4,500 per home, totaling more than $94,000 so far
✅ Engaged more than 200 volunteers from across our community
✅ Helped reduce build times by up to two days per home

As we continue to grow, those savings are expected to exceed $112,500 at 25 homes and $135,000 at 30 homes.

Thank you to Dave and Dave who lead our Volunteer Center, our volunteers, donors, and supporters who have helped make this vision a reality. Together, we're building homes, communities, and hope.

What a special evening!

Last night, we celebrated one year of our Volunteer Center being open, and we were surrounded by so many of the people who make our mission possible. From our dedicated Core Crew and volunteers to our generous supporters, suppliers, and subcontractors, it was a night filled with gratitude and celebration.

As part of the evening, we had the opportunity to recognize a few partners whose service and commitment have helped Habitat for Humanity of Evansville build homes, communities, and hope throughout our community.

The Building Homes and Health Team gathered at Habitat to celebrate Deaconess’ sponsorship of the initiative and to plan for the fourth Building Homes and Health house.

Building Homes and Health is a collaborative project with Habitat, Deaconess, IU School of Medicine-Evansville, the University of Southern Indiana, and the University of Evansville. Future healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and medical laboratory scientists, will help with construction on-site and at Habitat’s new Volunteer Center. Through this service-learning experience, they have the opportunity to connect with community members while helping build homes, communities, and hope.
