What a wonderful day at our 2026 Fall Family Picnic!

We were blessed with beautiful weather, great fellowship, and fun for the whole family. From roaming dinosaurs courtesy of Feller Express to incredible food from Marx Barbecue, it was a day full of laughter, connection, and celebration.

A special thank you to the Habitat ReStore for providing door prizes and helping make the day even more memorable.

We were also honored to recognize two outstanding volunteers. Congratulations to our 2026 award recipients:
🏆 Jim Fowler Award (presented posthumously): George Neireiter
🏆 Dee McMillin Award: Cheryl Ricketts

Both have left a lasting impact on Habitat families and our community through their service, dedication, and leadership.

One of the most meaningful moments of the day was celebrating 21 Habitat families who have paid off their mortgages. Watching homeowners burn their mortgages was a powerful reminder of why we do this work. Homeownership changes lives, strengthens families, and creates generational change.

Thank you to everyone who joined us as we celebrated homes, communities, and hope.

What a great day at the Volunteer Center! We were excited to welcome not one, but two groups from LyondellBasell as part of their Global Care Week celebration.

Every volunteer hour makes a difference, and we are grateful for team members who choose to give back to our community. Thank you for helping families build strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership.

Today, we celebrate an incredible milestone and an extraordinary person.

After 25 years of service, Jenny Wuchner officially retires from Habitat for Humanity of Evansville.

For a quarter century, Jenny has lived Habitat's mission of building homes, communities, and hope. During her time with Habitat, nearly 460 homes were built, creating opportunities for local families to achieve the strength, stability, and self-reliance that comes with homeownership.

Jenny's impact can be seen throughout our community. She played a role in major neighborhood developments, completed the finishing work on more than 360 Habitat samplers, and helped create countless opportunities for volunteers, donors, and homeowner families to come together in partnership.

What makes Jenny's story especially meaningful is that Habitat became a family mission. Over the years, her children joined her in service through school projects, volunteer efforts, and Habitat-related programs that helped introduce a new generation to the importance of giving back. The values Jenny lived every day inspired those closest to her and extended Habitat's mission far beyond the workplace.

At her retirement celebration, Jenny did something that perfectly reflects who she is. She thoughtfully gave a gift to every staff member, each one holding personal meaning from her years at Habitat. Rather than keeping those treasured reminders for herself, she chose to pass them along to the people who will continue the work she loved so much. It was a beautiful gesture, and a lasting reminder that Jenny's greatest legacy is not just the homes she helped build, but the people she encouraged, mentored, and inspired along the way.

As Jenny begins this new chapter, we are grateful for every family served, every volunteer welcomed, every neighborhood strengthened, and every life touched through her 25 years of faithful service.

Thank you, Jenny, for your compassion, dedication, and unwavering belief that everyone deserves a decent place to live. Your legacy will continue to live on in the homes, communities, and hope you helped build.

Congratulations on your retirement, Jenny. You will always be part of the Habitat family. ❤️🏠

Jenny ended a speech to our team with, "There's no place like home." After spending 25 years helping others find one, you've certainly earned the chance to enjoy your own.

Home #653 is officially home. 🏡

Angelica celebrated dedication day surrounded by loved ones, supportive friends, and the incredible team from Liberty Federal Credit Union, who sponsored their eighth Habitat home and contributed both funding and volunteer hours to help make this day possible.

Known for encouraging her fellow future homeowners, Angelica shared that one of the greatest gifts of the program has been the friendships she's made, friendships that have now become neighbors.

The sweetest surprise? Her daughter didn't even know they were getting a new house until the dedication and is already planning the color of her new bedroom.

Congratulations, Angelica. Welcome home!

New Habitat record alert?

Last weekend, an incredible team made up of HYPE (Habitat's Young Professionals of Evansville) members, future homeowners and family members, and USI Nursing students painted an entire home in just 1 hour and 15 minutes!

The speed was impressive, but the teamwork was even better. Every brushstroke brought a future homeowner one step closer to moving into a safe, affordable place to call home.

Way to go, team!

A big thank you to Schnucks and Stephen Rennels!

One of our greatest needs, especially during the summer months, is water. We go through countless bottles each week to keep our incredible Core Crew, future homeowners, and volunteers hydrated while they build homes, communities, and hope.

Thanks to Schnucks' generosity, Habitat for Humanity of Evansville received an entire pallet of water to help support this mission.

Thank you for helping us care for the people who make this work possible!

(Also, we always enjoy getting to have two of our Construction Managers, Mike and Brian, in a photo!)
