Join the Fairborn Parks & Recreation Advisory Board on Tuesday, September 22 at 5:30 p.m. as they clean up the historic Mercer-Smith House. Volunteers will help w**d and clean up the garden beds surrounding the historic home. Bring your gardening gloves and come lend a hand!

Built around 1799, the Mercer-Smith House is one of Fairborn’s oldest surviving structures and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Caring for the property helps preserve an important piece of our community’s history for generations to come. We'll see you on September 22!

Today, the City of Fairborn welcomed seven new members to the Fairborn Fire Department, bringing the department to FULL SWORN STAFFING for the first time in the City’s history!

It was standing room only as City employees, police and fire personnel, family and friends, neighboring fire chiefs and mentors came together to celebrate this important milestone.

Please join us in welcoming Melissa Braun, Peyton Robinson, Kyle Hern, Allie Lamb, Nate Emrick, Kilar Hughes, and Tyler Pennington to the Fairborn Fire Department and congratulating the entire department on reaching full sworn staffing for the first time in the City's history!

From Fairborn to Enon, Brookville, Kettering, Vandalia and communities throughout the Miami Valley, these seven bring diverse experiences, training and connections to the department. Among them are a Fairborn native and Navy veteran, experienced firefighters from other local departments, and firefighters and paramedics who have built their careers serving communities across the region.

We're proud to welcome firefighters from across the Miami Valley to the team, and even prouder that they have chosen Fairborn as the place they want to serve.

UPDATE: Railroad Crossing Closure Extended

Due to unforeseen conditions encountered by construction crews, the railroad crossing on SR-235/Xenia Drive between Schwerman Drive and Sports Street will remain closed through Friday, September 4, while necessary rail repairs and resurfacing are completed.

Drivers traveling from I-675 toward downtown Fairborn can use the Dayton-Yellow Springs Road exit or the Broad Street/SR-444 exit to get around the closure.

This is a much-needed improvement to the crossing, and we appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as crews work to complete the project.

The City of Fairborn was proud to join TCN Behavioral Health today for the ribbon cutting of Rockdell Villas, the first Permanent Supportive Housing community of its kind in Greene County!

We were also proud to welcome Congressman Mike Turner as community leaders, partners and supporters gathered to celebrate this incredible milestone.

Located right here in Fairborn, Rockdell Villas represents a $13+ million investment and provides 40 one-bedroom apartments for individuals experiencing homelessness and living with severe and persistent mental illness.

The need for supportive housing is significant. Recent data shows that 446 individuals were identified as chronically homeless in Greene County, including 283 people residing in emergency shelters and 163 people living unsheltered.

Rockdell Villas is more than a place to live. It provides residents with a safe and stable home, along with opportunities for connection, support and skill-building.

Congratulations to TCN Behavioral Health and every partner who helped turn a vision that began in 2019 into a reality. Fairborn is proud to be home to Rockdell Villas and to be part of a project that will make a lasting difference in the lives of people throughout our community and Greene County.

This morning, the Fairborn Fire Department officially dedicated its newest ladder truck with a ceremony honoring a longtime fire service tradition.

Before Ladder 2 was pushed into its new home for the first time, Fairborn firefighters, elected officials, Fairborn employees, and community members ceremonially washed and dried the truck. The department then came together to push it into Fire Station 2, symbolically welcoming it into service. The push-in tradition dates back to the days of horse-drawn fire apparatus, when firefighters had to physically push equipment back into the station because horses could not easily back it inside.

Fairborn’s new Ladder 2 features a 100-foot ladder, giving firefighters greater reach when responding to multi-story structures and complex emergencies. It also enhances rescue operations, allowing firefighters to safely lower people to the ground in a controlled manner. Ladder 2 also features blue lighting and the Fairborn City Schools logo, recognizing the special relationship between the City and Fairborn City Schools. The truck will be stationed at Fire Station 2 near the new Fairborn High School and Middle School.

More than just a new piece of equipment, Ladder 2 represents our continued investment in community safety, partnerships and the future of Fairborn. Welcome home, Ladder 2!

You're Invited! Join the Fairborn Fire Department as we proudly dedicate our newest ladder truck, Ladder 2!

Equipped with a 100-foot aerial platform and built for performance and reliability, Ladder 2 will strengthen our ability to serve and protect the communities of Fairborn and Bath Township for years to come.

This special event is open to the public, and we hope you'll join us as we officially welcome Ladder 2 into service on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. at Fire Station #2, located at 2200 Commerce Center Blvd. in Fairborn.
