The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office Civil Office and Special Permits Office will be closed on Monday, September 7th, 2026, in observance of Labor Day.

The wait is over! The Cumberland County Fair officially opens TODAY, September 4, at 5:00 PM! 🎉

Sheriff Morgan has a special invitation for all of our citizens—come on out and enjoy everything the fair has to offer! Bring your family, friends, and plenty of smiles for a fun-filled time together. 🎠🍿🎶

The fair runs September 4–13, so there are plenty of opportunities to come out, enjoy the rides, grab some great food, check out the attractions, and make some memories!

S*x Offender Arrested

On September 3rd, 2026, The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office S*x Offender Registration Enforcement Unit (SOREU) was notified that Zaire Hines was on the premises of Montclair Elementary School, located at 555 Glensford Drive, Fayetteville and began an investigation.

On September 4th, 2026, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office S*x Offender Registration Enforcement Unit arrested and charged Zaire McCarty Hines (B/M 28 years of age) of Fayetteville with S*x Offender on Child Premises.

Adria Denise Black was also arrested and charged with Failing to Report the Non-Compliance of a S*x Offender, after having knowlodge of Zine’s being a registered s*x offender.

Hines and Black were processed at the Cumberland County Detention Center. Hines was held on a $50,000.00 secured bond. Black was held on $5,000.00 secured bond. Their first appearance is Tuesday, September 8th, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. at the Cumberland County Courthouse.

🚨 SPEEDING PSA

Apparently, the posted speed limit of 35 MPH in a school zone was merely a suggestion.

Today’s contestant decided 74 MPH was the more appropriate speed—because apparently getting to wherever you’re going 39 seconds faster is worth turning the school zone into a NASCAR track. 🏎️💨

Spoiler alert: 74 in a 35 = a traffic stop and citation, not a trophy. 🏆

Slow down. Watch for kids. The only thing that should be flying through a school zone is the homework excuse. đź“š

This morning, the Sheriff Johnathan Morgan: Cumberland County Sheriff's Office celebrated the graduation of 13 cadets from its Basic Law Enforcement Training program at Rivers of Living Water Church.

After completing their training, these cadets are now deputies and ready to begin serving our community.

Commissioner Henry Tyson and County Manager Clarence Grier joined the ceremony to congratulate the graduates and celebrate this important milestone with their families, friends and fellow members of the Sheriff’s Office.

Congratulations to all 13 graduates! We’re excited to see what’s ahead as you begin this next chapter of service.
