The countdown to our Annual BVC Effect Awards is on!

Each week, we will be highlighting a different award category for the November 18th, 2026 ceremony.

This Week's Spotlight: The Extra Mile Award
Recipients of The Extra Mile Award are recognized for their integrity, creativity, and flexibility in their service delivery. Nominees should be provider agencies, DSPs, independent providers, County Board employees, or entities that provide direct services to individuals with developmental disabilities. Successful nominees will create and foster opportunities for individuals to live, learn, work and be a part of the community.

Wood County Plays built an inclusive park in Fostoria, Ohio located in Hancock County. It’s an honor for the Hancock County Board of Developmental Disabilities to contribute to the development of this space where all children have access to play. Team Ohio will play today at 2:00pm (EST) as they head into the softball finals at the Special Olympics USA Games. We continue to cheer them on from back home - good luck!!!!!

*USA Games Update*

Team Ohio was put into a 3 team division. It is the upper division 1. Ohio, Southern California, and Missouri. We play Southern California at 9am and then play again at 3pm (CST) against Missouri. Whoever wins both games will play for gold on Thursday. The other 2 teams will play against each other on Thursday and winner will play top team for gold. If there is a 3-way tie tomorrow, than it will go to runs scored. As of now, Team Ohio is ranked #1.

Good luck today Team Ohio - you have a lot of people cheering you on from home!
