🔥 FIRE EMERGENCY & BURN BAN IN EFFECT 🔥

In conjunction with Morton County Emergency Management and following the recommendation of the Morton County Fire Chiefs, Morton County Commission Chairman Nathan Boehm has approved a Fire Emergency and Burn Ban, effective immediately.

The declaration is in effect for seven days and will be reviewed by the Morton County Commission during its regular meeting on Thursday, August 13.

Open burning is prohibited, including:
-Campfires
-Controlled burns
-Agricultural burning
-Outdoor fireplaces and wood-burning chimineas
-Fireworks (aerial and ground)
-Garbage/pit burning
-Charcoal and wood-fired grills/smokers
-Outdoor welding and hot work

Gas grills, gas patio fireplaces, gas camp stoves, and similar gas-fired devices are allowed ONLY if they are:
✔️ On a hard, non-organic surface
✔️ At least 15 feet from vegetation
✔️ Used with a fire extinguisher or water source readily available

Please do your part to help prevent wildland fires by ensuring trailer chains are not dragging and avoiding parking or driving on dry grass.

Violations of the Fire Emergency and Burn Ban are a Class B Misdemeanor and may result in penalties of up to 30 days in jail and a $1,500 fine.

STORM CLEANUP: Due to wet conditions at the Landfill, tree branches and debris can be brought to the city shop at 219 Church Street for later disposal from City Personnel. Trees and Branches from storm cleanup ONLY.

While we all love to celebrate our Independence Day in style but we also need sleep. Please be sure to follow City Ordinance regarding firework discharge times. Have a fun and safe 4th of July. (Reminder: Lince Sanitation will not pick up discharged fireworks unless they have been fully doused with water prior!)
