WHY FUSD? Because for some of our educators, this isn’t just where they work - it’s home.
Meet Mr. Johnson, a San Tan Foothills High School teacher who wears a lot of hats in FUSD: AP English teacher, English Department Chair, Head Wrestling Coach and Freshman Football Coach. After years in FUSD, including serving as an administrator at Poston Butte High School, he continues to find ways to invest in our students both inside and outside the classroom.
He also gives his time to our younger FUSD students, running community wrestling camps that help kids stay active, build skills and discover the sport.
For him, being part of FUSD means being part of the community, too:
“Until I worked here, I had never lived in the community where I teach. I love that I can influence youth, help parents, and be a part of San Tan Valley and Florence, AZ, on a daily and weekly basis.
I find I care more about the district, as someone who lives, shops, and works in this area. I run into students, former students, and athletes at restaurants, grocery stores, and even walking my dog, or playing in the park with my young kids. It is great!!!”
That’s WHY FUSD. It’s about teaching, coaching, mentoring and investing in the communities we call home.
