The USAMU Marksmanship Cord is more than a piece of uniform insignia. It is a visible symbol of expertise, professionalism, and commitment to excellence.

Reserved for Soldiers assigned to the Home of Champions, the distinctive blue cord signifies a role in developing lethal, capable marksmen through competition, instruction, and mastery of the craft.

USAMU's Sgt. Zevin Linse delivered a phenomenal run at the recent 2026 New England Games in Vermont — firing back‑to‑back National Standing Records across the three days of 80‑shot matches. After opening with a blistering 200‑13x, he returned the next day to break his own record with 200‑14x, never dropping a point in the standing position.

Linse’s consistency and precision culminated in a 2400 Aggregate score of 2390‑136x, setting another National Record and surpassing the previous mark of 2383‑111x.

USAMU teammate Spc. Amber Kingshill also delivered an outstanding performance, posting a 2400 Aggregate score of 2386‑114x, breaking last year’s record as well.

An incredible showing of skill and discipline from both Soldiers. Congratulations to Linse and Kingshill on their record‑setting performances.

Soldiers from 5th Special Forces Group trained with the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit, refining short- and long-range marksmanship through shooting on the move, working in and out of positions, and applying ballistics and holdovers at distance.

This past weekend, SSG Heinauer and SSG Standard of the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit Service Pistol Team traveled to Rapid City, South Dakota, to compete in the GSSF Annual Shoot, better known as the GSSF Nationals.

Both Soldiers delivered outstanding performances throughout the weekend. SSG Standard claimed first place in three of the four divisions and secured the Overall Gunny Challenge Shoot-Off Championship!
SSG Heinauer followed closely behind, finishing second in all four divisions and earning third place overall in the Gunny Challenge Shoot-Off.

The weekend was a great showing for the Service Pistol Team, with both Soldiers demonstrating their skill and consistency against some of the nation's top competitors.

Congratulations to both Soldiers on their accomplishments and another successful weekend representing the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit!

The USAMU Service Pistol Team recently competed in the Atomic City GSSF Match.

SSG Anthony Heinauer led the way, taking 1st place in all four divisions entered: Master Stock, MOS, Competition, and Unlimited. SFC Walter Johnson followed closely behind, earning 2nd place in Master Stock, MOS, and Competition, along with a 3rd-place finish in Unlimited.

The Atomic City match served as an important tune-up for the team ahead of the GSSF National Championship in South Dakota the following weekend. With Nationals just days away, the team was able to get valuable match reps, identify areas to sharpen, and continue building momentum heading into one of the biggest GSSF competitions of the year.

The U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit's Shoulder Sleeve Insignia, authorized in 2013, honors that legacy, capturing the heritage and mission of America's premier marksmanship unit.

Today we break down each element of the insignia, highlighting the values our Soldiers demonstrate in competition, training and support to the force.

As we continue our 70-years-of-impact series, this insignia stands as a reminder of precision, readiness and excellence that define the USAMU and the Soldiers who carry its mission forward.

Spc. Aeriel Skinner dominates the 2026 Trap Fall Selection Match, bringing home the 🥇 in Colorado Springs! USAMU teammates Staff Sgt. Will Hinton and Spc. William Browning kept the pressure on, locking in the 🥈 and 🥉 in the men’s category.

With these podium finishes, Skinner, Hinton, and Browning all earned their places on the National Trap Team. They’ll stand alongside civilian athletes and fellow USAMU teammates Staff Sgt. Rachel Tozier, Sgt. 1st Class Glenn Eller, and Sgt. 1st Class Derek Haldeman, who also secured team spots.

Next stop: representing USA Shooting on the world stage — ISSF World Championships (Doha), CAT Games (Lima), and ISSF World Cup (Acapulco).

🇺🇸 USAMU Pistol Team Delivers at the Keystone Cup 🇺🇸

The USAMU Pistol Team wrapped up another strong weekend of competition at the Keystone Cup Regional and State Action Pistol Championships, bringing home wins across multiple divisions and categories.

SFC Walter Johnson led the way, claiming the overall championship on both days with:
🥇 Regional — 1920-175X
🥇 State — 1920-183X

Johnson also captured the Rimfire Category, adding another win to an impressive weekend.

SSG Anthony Heinauer finished 2nd Overall in the Regional Championship with a 1920-171X and followed it up by winning the Production Optics Division with a 1918-176X.

SSG Walker Buckman controlled the Metallic Division, taking the division win on both days of competition.

From overall victories to division titles, the Keystone Cup was another strong showing for the USAMU Pistol Team and a great opportunity to put our training to the test against quality competition.

Another weekend of representing the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit at the highest level.
