Help Shape the Future of Fort Fairfield! 🏛️🏡
Fort Fairfield is preparing to update our zoning ordinances to comply with state housing rules, making this a pivotal time for thoughtful, engaged community members to get involved. We currently have openings across two vital boards:
🔹 Planning Board: 2 Associate (Alternate) Seats
🔹 Zoning Board of Appeals: 2 Regular Seats & 2 Associate (Alternate) Seats
What’s the difference between the roles?
🔹Planning Board: Steers local development, reviews site plans, and helps craft policy—including upcoming updates to our housing and zoning rules.
🔹Zoning Board of Appeals: Evaluates requests for variances, special exceptions, and appeals of administrative decisions.
🔹Associate / Alternate Seats: Alternate members participate in discussions and step in to vote when full members are absent or recused due to conflicts. It’s an ideal way to get involved and learn local government from the inside out!
📌 Who Can Apply: Must be a Fort Fairfield resident. No background in law or municipal planning is required—just fairness, open-mindedness, and care for our town’s growth.
📄 How to Apply: Pick up an Application for Appointment to a Town Authority, Board, or Committee at the Town Office, download one athttps://www.fortfairfield.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/2026-Board-and-Committee-Application.pdf, or contact us at 18 Community Center Drive.
