Foundation First/ Ready Region North Central

Foundation First's vision is that all children from birth to five have a solid foundation that leads to success.

Foundation First's mission is to unify our community to promote equitable access to resources for all children birth to five. We serve Loudoun, Prince William, Fauquier, Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania, Stafford, Caroline, King George, Culpeper Counties, and the cities of Manassas, Manassas Park, and Fredericksburg. Foundation First implements several early childhood strategies in our region in order to enhance the quality of early childhood education and service programs for children from birth to age five. We are a coalition of over 40 public and private agencies, businesses, and individuals. We are funded through generous donations from local businesses, organizations and individuals, and the Ready Region grant from the Virginia Early Childhood Foundation.

Happy Labor Day! 🇺🇸Any big plans for this weekend?

Foundation First offices will be closed on Monday, September 7th. We honor the hard work and dedication of all our team members and the community.

🎉 VQB5 Registration is OPEN! 🎉 Complete your VQB5 registration by September 4th and you’ll be entered into a drawing for an Amazon gift card!

🎁 Who is eligible?
This opportunity is only for privately operated child care centers and home-based child care providers participating in VQB5. We’ll be selecting multiple providers to receive the prize!

Yesterday, observers from across our Ready Region came together for a full day of connection, learning, and collaboration at our Precision in Practice Observer Conference! Through engaging activities, thoughtful discussion, and reflection, participants sharpened their observation and notetaking skills, exchanged ideas with fellow observers, and walked away with practical strategies to strengthen their work in the field.

A special thank you to Prince William County Public Schools Superintendent LaTanya D. McDade for joining us and kicking off the conference with an opening welcome. We’re also incredibly grateful to Courtney, our Observer Specialist, and Amudha, our Director of Quality & Improvement, for thoughtfully planning and bringing this entire day of professional learning to life.

Thank you to every observer who joined us and contributed their experience, ideas, and perspective. Here’s to continuing to build precision in practice and strengthening the quality of observations across our region! 💙 🔍

As we closed out another successful fiscal year, our Foundation First team took time to celebrate all that we’ve accomplished and the people who made it possible.

We marked the occasion with a fun painting party meaningful conversations as we reflected on the cultural norms that guide how we work together every day. Taking time to strengthen our team and reaffirm our shared values helps ensure we’re building not only a strong organization, but one that continues to support children, families, educators, and communities across our region.
