Dear Friends and Constituents,

After almost 12 years in the Missouri House and Senate—starting when I got elected in 2014 and then winning the Senate seat in 2022—I'm sharing some big personal news with a lot of gratitude: I won't be seeking re-election to the Missouri State Senate.

Serving you all has been the honor of my life. From pounding the pavement knocking on doors across eastern and mid-Missouri to pushing for better economic development, stronger schools, family values, and real innovation in Jefferson City, I've been blessed to work side-by-side with good people on both sides of the aisle to make our state a better place.

Now, my family and I are heading in a new direction, and I'm excited to step into the role of Executive Director at the Missouri Technology Corporation (MTC). MTC is a key public-private partnership investing in high-growth startups, backing entrepreneurs, and fueling tech-driven growth all over Missouri—from the big cities like St. Louis and Kansas City to Columbia, Springfield, and across our rural communities.

With our statewide innovation network and the moment we're in, it's the ideal time to push Missouri forward as a leader in innovation. I'll be leaning on everything I've learned in the legislature, my time on the MTC Board, and my background running businesses and serving in the community to build transparent partnerships, bring in more investment, and help Governor Kehoe build a dynamic economy: More jobs, more follow-on capital, and more opportunities for everyday Missourians.

To everyone in District 10—Callaway, Lincoln, Montgomery, Pike, and our beloved slice of St. Charles County—and to all of you who've backed me along the way: Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your encouragement, your prayers, your trust—they've meant the world to me and my family.

I'll keep serving until the transition wraps up. Timing will be announced soon, worked out with legislative leadership and the MTC Board. Until then, my door's still open—always has been, always will be.

Missouri's future looks bright, and I'm filled with optimism as we keep working together to open up more doors across this beautiful state.

God bless you all, and God bless Missouri! 🇺🇸

With real gratitude,
Travis Fitzwater

Be careful out there this weekend. I had a meeting with the Missouri Department of Transportation today and we discussed the threat of this storm. Be smart and don’t travel if you don’t have to. Hopefully the weather reports are inaccurate and we get much less than predicted. Nonetheless, be prepared and protect yourselves and your families.

First day of my 12th legislative session. Let’s go! I’m blessed and honored to serve in the Missouri State Senate.

The Callaway County Sheriff’s Office is urging all motorists to use extreme caution as snow and rapidly deteriorating road conditions have made Interstate 70 extremely dangerous.

Deputies, along with multiple fire, EMS, and MoDOT crews, are currently responding to numerous slide-offs, stranded vehicles, and injury crashes on both the eastbound and westbound lanes of I-70. Traffic is moving slowly or completely blocked, visibility is reduced, and road surfaces are slick and snow-covered.

Currently between the Williamsburg and Millersburg exit Thursday estimated 60 vehicles that have slid off the road or blocking traffic.

Current Hazards

• Multiple vehicles off the roadway, including passenger vehicles and commercial trucks
• Snow-covered pavement with icy patches forming underneath
• Reduced visibility due to active snowfall
• Congestion and intermittent traffic slowdowns in both directions

Motorists are strongly encouraged to avoid unnecessary travel on Interstate 70 until conditions improve.

If travel is absolutely necessary:
• Reduce speed significantly
• Increase following distance
• Keep headlights on
• Allow extra time to reach your destination
• Move over for emergency vehicles and MoDOT crews

Deputies are working alongside MoDOT, Missouri State Highway Patrol, and local fire/EMS agencies to manage roadway hazards and assist stranded drivers. Crews will continue monitoring the interstate throughout the duration of the storm.e

Today is pre-filing day in the Senate and House. My office has been hard at it filing legislation for all Missourians and we're ready to go to bat for good policy in the 2026 Missouri Legislative session. Here are some of my office's top priorities:

1. The REINS Act is our first bill filed because we've got to get the government bureaucracy under control.
2. Pharmacist practice act expansion because pharmacists, some of our most trusted health care professionals, are ready to do more.
3. Solar farm regulations for large scale solar that is taking over across farm land in MO.
4. PBM reform because our costs are out of control and they're killing independent pharmacies around our state. Thanks to President , Sen. , and others for putting this at the forefront of fixing our broken health care system.
5. Protections for kids and parents against s*x offenders.
6. Insurance reform for patients with expensive care.
7. Missouri Disabled Veterans' Dependents Tuition Waiver program to help cover the cost of in-state school tuition for our inspiring American heroes' families.
8. Foreign ownership of land reform to make sure our foreign adversaries don't own Missouri land.
9. Autonomous vehicle legislation to allow our state to be a forward thinking environment for the future of travel.
10. A Missouri nuclear energy expansion bill that is necessary for our future grid and consumption demands.
11. Personal property tax reform.
12. Several other policy issues that are priorities for our communities.

I'm also supporting my colleagues in their endeavors around expanding school choice options, getting rid of our state income tax alongside , and passing a smart budget. Lots of work left to do!

Follow along on what we're filing at the link in the comments below.

God bless the beautiful state of Missouri! And, Merry Christmas to you all.
