⚠️ SCAM ALERT ⚠️
We have seen an increase in scam related calls over the past few months ... please be aware who you are speaking with before providing any information and before sending any money.
Scammers can be very convincing. They may know your name or other personal information, use the name of a real officer, and even make the caller ID appear to come from a legitimate agency.
If someone calls you and says they are a family member and you need to send them money ... confirm that it is indeed that family before you send them any money. Maybe hang up and call the family member to see if they are indeed calling you for money.
If someone who represents themselves to you as a law enforcement agency and advises you that you have a warrant ... ask them to provide their agency name and court you owe the money too. Then, get the number for yourself and contact that agency/court. Don’t use a number that they provide you, click any links that they send you or enter any websites that they tell you to enter into your Internet browser.
One of the biggest tales is if you are being asked to wire money or get some type of prepaid money card, but also asking for money via PayPal Cash App or other common used methods to get people to send money.
When something doesn’t seem right ... always take a second before providing information or sending money. A little suspicion can go along way!
