Many of our residents experienced property damage this week due to the extensive rainfall and flooding, and we know how stressful and overwhelming that can be.

If your home or property was damaged, you may qualify for a temporary reduction in your Auditor’s appraised value. To apply for a review of storm-related damage, go here: Auditor.FranklinCountyOhio.gov/Real-Estate/Tax-Reduction-Programs/Damaged-and-Destroyed.

Governor DeWine is also seeking assistance from FEMA to aid in the recovery. We will share information as soon as we know more.

Our first responders and front line workers are in the field and responding to the severe flooding in Gahanna.
Please shelter in place and reach out in the event of an emergency. Stay away from any standing water or downed power lines!

Please join us Monday, August 17 for a brief ceremony before Council meetings to close our tenure at 200 S. Hamilton Road.

The community is invited to join us on Monday, August 17 as Gahanna City Council holds its final meeting at City Hall on 200 S. Hamilton Road.

The evening will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a public reception featuring remarks from Mayor Laurie Jadwin and Council President Trenton Weaver, light refreshments, and a special archival exhibit highlighting the history of Gahanna’s City Hall and Council Chambers from 1881 to the present. Prepared by Council Office Intern Caris Lantz, the exhibit will include historic photographs, videos, and milestones from Gahanna’s past.

At 7 p.m., guests are invited to attend the official call to order for the final City Council meeting at this location. The ceremony will include a presentation of the colors by the Gahanna Division of Police Honor Guard, special appearances by former City officials for the Pledge of Allegiance, and the final roll call of City Council at 200 S. Hamilton Road.

Join us as we honor more than half a century of public service, civic leadership, and community memories at the municipal complex at 200 S. Hamilton Road, which has served the City of Gahanna since 1970.

Still smiling from my 6th Annual Birthday Picnic and Community Rockstar Award celebration!

Thank you to everyone who came together to celebrate one another, strengthen connections, and build community. This year, we were proud to honor Patricia Kovacs for her many years of service through the Bicycle and Trail Advisory Committee, the Gahanna Historical Society, and her efforts to provide bicycles and helmets to children in need.

Thanks to the generosity of those who attended, we contributed $100 in bicycle helmets and $150 in cash to Patricia’s nonprofit of choice, the Gahanna Parks & Rec Foundation

It was a joyful afternoon celebrating the people who make our community stronger, safer, and more connected.

Thanks, too, to Jarron Sollee Jarron Sollee for providing such great live music for the event!

⚡Utility Work 💪🏼
Over the last two months, I've received several questions about the ongoing work on Taylor Road, so I wanted to share the latest information I’ve gathered about both the water line project nearing completion and a proposed gas line project.
I’m sharing this as your neighbor who serves on Council and I hope it helps to answer questions from our neighborhoods. Official communication is expected to come from the utilities and the City, as well.  
💧 Taylor Road Water Line Project
September 30 is the target date for substantial completion, and the project is on track to meet that date. After that, the contractor will have 45 days to complete remaining punch-list work.
The overnight work and tie-ins are complete, but the new water line is not yet active. We are still being served by the old line at this time. The transition to the new line is expected soon.
Wrapping up the project will include resurfacing of the road and restoration of affected sidewalks and driveways.

If you have concerns about the road, sidewalks, curbs or aprons, please let the City Public Service or Engineering departments know or fill out a ticket on the Gahanna Direct service portal. 

⛽ Columbia Gas Project
In addition to the new water line, a proposed Columbia Gas project is in preliminary stages. A new gas line is proposed for Morrison and Taylor Roads from Hamilton to Taylor Station. 
Across Gahanna, this larger project covers approximately 8.5 miles. Current plans suggest that work on Taylor Road would occur in rolling phases with temporary passing zones rather than a full closure. The proposal also includes a new regulator station.
Construction is projected to begin in late 2027, but the timing remains uncertain because the project has not yet received state approval and the utility may determine a different priority schedule. 

Unfortunately these projects were not able to be coordinated so we will have to anticipate construction on Taylor Rd again in a year or two.

Christopher L. Wyche continues to advance smart policy that helps protect our entire region.

The proposal includes requiring data center developers to produce a conservation and efficiency plan, a decommissioning plan, and establishing a permitting process for facilities that want to connect to sewer.
