Franklin County will be under a Heat Advisory from 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 1 to 11 p.m. on Wednesday, September 2. With dangerously high temperatures expected, we encourage everyone to take steps to stay safe and cool.

· Drink plenty of water.
· Stay in air-conditioned spaces whenever possible.
· Limit time outdoors, especially during the hottest part of the day.
· Wear lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting clothing and sunscreen.
· Check on older adults, young children, and neighbors who may need assistance.
· Make sure pets have plenty of fresh water and avoid walking them during the hottest hours of the day.
· Never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle.

⚠️ Know the signs of heat illness. Heavy sweating, dizziness, nausea, headache, and muscle cramps may be signs of heat exhaustion. If someone becomes confused, loses consciousness, or has hot, dry skin, call 911 immediately, as these may be signs of heat stroke.

COTA will suspend fares system-wide on Tuesday and Wednesday, making it easier to reach air-conditioned destinations.

If you’re looking for a place to cool off, the Splash Pad at Gahanna Swimming Pool is open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and is free to the public.
