UT Extension - Sumner County UT Extension of Sumner County UT Extension provides a gateway to the University of Tennessee as the outreach unit of the Institute of Agriculture.

With an office in every county, UT Extension delivers educational programs and research-based information to citizens throughout the state of Tennessee. Join UT Extension and the Sumner County Health Department at the Gallatin Senior Center on Thursday, June 11, from 11am-12pm to learn about ways to keep your brain healthy! No registration required.

We hope you can join us at this event as a way to participate in June's Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness Month!

UT Extension will be offering a "Cooking with Commodities" program at Feed Sumner Food Bank and Ministry located at 1121 Gregory Drive in Gallatin. The class will be held on Thursday, June 11, from 4p-5p.

Participants will learn how to make an easy recipe using items commonly found in food boxes, and we will also share about healthy living tips. Those attending will be able to pick up their food boxes at this meeting instead of on the 2nd Saturday of the month.

There is no charge for the class. Space is limited, so if you would like to join, please register by emailing [email protected] or call 615-452-1423 by Wednesday, June 10, 2026.

Move more for your brain health!

June is Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness month, so we are challenging you to move the equivalent of a marathon (26.2 miles) during the month of June. Use the QR code in the flyer to register, or register with this link: https://tiny.utk.edu/4wDfK

Registration is June 12th, but the earlier you register, the more healthy tips you will gain per our weekly emails and challenges!

Eligible Miles: These miles should be specifically for the sake of fitness, not everyday steps. Other exercise will count besides walking and jogging. Just use the conversion calculator to figure out your miles: https://www.walkacrosstn.org/mileage-calculator/
