Congratulations to our newest communications training officers!

Lauren, Kasumi, Lexie, and Kayla were recently promoted to CTO. Their weeklong classroom training included leadership, training skills, completing daily observation reports, and several other topics to prepare them for the invaluable role they are about to assume. Our new CTOs then shadow existing CTOs for some on-the-job training before imparting their dispatching or call taking knowledge to others.

Congratulations, ladies, on your promotion to this next level of leadership within the ECC. Keep doing great things!

On this Veterans Day, we pay tribute to your remarkable service, your unshakeable resolve, and your tireless efforts to defend our freedom and nation against oppression. Your legacy is a testament to the transformative power of courage and conviction.

Our deepest condolences and prayers extended to the family of Allan Williams, who lost his life in Saturday’s crash. And our prayers continue to be lifted up for Andy Sikes, and the pilot of the flight and their families, as well as the entire Vanderbilt family. We hope they are both able to recover swiftly and completely.

All three are true examples of those who serve without hesitation despite the risks that come with the job and we are grateful for them and those who are part of the first responder family throughout our communities.

For 41 years, through more than 80,000 flights and 40,000 ground transports, the remarkable members of the Vanderbilt LifeFlight team have saved countless lives. Since inception, the program has highlighted safety as its most important priority. Despite the inherent risk of this work, these dedicated individuals feel called to serve patients in their most vulnerable moments, critically injured or ill.

Yesterday, three crew members serving on LifeFlight 1 were involved in an accident when their aircraft went down in an unpopulated area in Wilson County, TN. There was no patient on board at the time. Allan Williams, RN, Flight Nurse/Paramedic, did not survive. Andrew “Andy” Sikes, Critical Care Flight Paramedic, and the aircraft’s pilot, whose family has asked for privacy at this time, were seriously injured and remain in our care.

As we grieve with Allan’s family, I ask you to please join me in support of them as well as Andy, the pilot and their families.

Our prayers surround the Vanderbilt Lifeflight family and the tragic crash in Wilson County this afternoon. Lifeflight 1 is stationed at the Sumner EMS, EMA, and ECC campus where we have the privilege to work every day and see these amazing folks. Our hearts are with the crew and their families during this very difficult time. ❤️
