Elevator repair update: The Library Board of Trustees met on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, and voted to replace the Hydraulic Power Module for our elevator. This is a special-ordered part that will take approximately six weeks for delivery and up to three days for installation. During the interim period, accessibility to the upper floors of the library may be impacted for some individuals. While most library functions will continue normally, we have made the following adjustments to ensure accessibility for all members of our community.

• The Wednesday, June 10, 2026, Friends of the Goffstown Public Library meeting will be held in the Mildred Stark Meeting Room at Town Hall at 6:30 p.m.
• The Wednesday, June 17, 2026, Library Board of Trustees Business meeting will be held in the Mildred Stark Meeting Room at Town Hall at 6:30 p.m.
• All adult programming and some teen programming locations will be moved either to our lawn or to an off-site location. Updated information will be posted at www.goffstownlibrary.com/gplcalendar over the next few days; please be sure to verify program locations before arriving.
• Additional adult library materials are available for browsing in our Circulation Desk lobby. If you don't see something that meets your needs or interests, please ask library staff for assistance, and we will be happy to retrieve it for you.
• Book donations will not resume on Monday, June 22, as was originally communicated. Once we have a firm date for completion of the elevator repair, we will share when we can again welcome your donations.

We appreciate your patience and positive thoughts while this important repair is completed. If you have any questions, please email me at [email protected] or call 603-497-2102.

Thanks,
Patti Penick

The Goffstown Public Library Foundation (GPLF) is a not-for-profit organization formed to raise funds to support the Goffstown Public Library's capital needs. Their hard work fully funded our bookcase modification project in preparation for the historic window restoration in 2027. The work took place on Sundays while the library was closed, and although it took a few weeks longer than anticipated, we are thrilled with the results. To learn more about the GPLF, visit their website at www.gplnhfoundation.org.

Elevator update: our 29-year-old elevator requires significant repair and will, unfortunately, not be back in service for at least a week. The Library Board of Trustees is evaluating our options, and an update will be provided once the path forward has been agreed upon later this week.

In the meantime, Library staff are ready and able to help you access any materials and information you require, so please ask at the Circulation Desk if you require assistance.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Color Copies Price Increase Beginning June 1

The Library provides the community with a wide range of materials, programs, and services. Among our most valued services is the ability to copy and print documents. Currently, black‑and‑white copies and prints are available for $.15 per page, and color copies are $.25 per page.

Over the past few years, the cost of paper—especially color toner—has increased significantly, while our fees have remained the same. To better cover rising supply costs, the price for color copies will increase to $.50 per page effective June 1, 2026. The cost for black‑and‑white copies will remain $.15 per page. While we do not aim to match retailer pricing, we must adjust our fees to support this important service.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Library Director Patti Penick at 603‑497‑2102 or [email protected].

Quilts tell stories, and quilt history is full of myths and misinformation as well as heart-warming tales of service and tradition. Nearly every world culture that has cold weather uses quilted textiles—quilting is NOT just an American art. Pam Weeks weaves world history, women's history, industrial history, and just plain wonderful stories into her presentation. On Wednesday, June 3 at 6:00 p.m., participants are invited to bring one quilt for identification and/or story sharing. Prompted in part by the material culture at hand, the presenter may speak about fashion fads, the Colonial Revival, quilt making for Civil War soldiers, and anything else quilt-related she can squeeze in.
