Now that it feels like summer, people are out more on bicycles and motorcycles. Please remember to look 👀 both ways at controlled intersections for bicyclists (bicyclists- remember to slow down/stop at intersections to make sure it is safe). Motorcycles can be harder to see on the road; check your blind spots when switching lanes. Motorcyclists, there is no lane splitting in ND and mind the speed limit. We can all share the roads and have a safe traveling experience getting to our destinations.

Our agency has received several case reports regarding contractor 👷🏻 fraud. We would like to remind people, prior to hiring a contractor, to verify that they are a licensed and valid contractor.

Per ND century code, a license is required through the State of ND if the costs exceed $4000.00 in a project. You can check to verify if the contractor is licensed at ND Secretary of State website.

Additionally, if services conducted in the City of Grand Forks exceed $2000.00, contractors are required to comply with local city contractor requirements. Those requirements can be found on the city website.

You can find a list of Grand Forks City licensed contractors by contacting the city at 701-746-4636.

Please verify your contractor has the appropriate licensure before utilizing their services.
If you are a contractor, please ensure you have the appropriate licensure.

Police Officer Cody Holte was shot and killed while responding to a call for emergency assistance resulting from shots fired after an attempt to serve eviction-related paperwork.

Officer Cody Holte was a 3 year and 3-month veteran of the GFPD, and a member of the Grand Forks Sheriff’s Office Regional Water Rescue Team and the GFPD Honor Guard. In addition, Holte enlisted in the Army Reserve in 2010, he later commissioned as a 2nd Lt. in the N.D. Army National Guard in 2015, where he served until the time of his death.

Holte leaves behind his wife and infant son, and we ask that you remember them in your thoughts and prayers.

You may see some different posts this summer. Our summer interns are helping with social media.

This fun fact is for those attending summer school. It was created to help make school areas safer by trying to keep kids from running across the street and possibly getting hit by a passing vehicle. Keep your eyes open and phones down especially in school zones. Even though it is summer, some are still attending classes.

There are a few things going on this weekend in town. The main one to note is the softball tournament at Albrecht Field. This will increase traffic around Columbia and University Ave. Enjoy your long weekend, if you get Monday off.

We are getting more and more complaints on electric motorcycles. These are not bicycles nor e-bikes. They are classified as motorcycles. This means the driver needs to have a motorcycle permit or license. They also need to be registered with the DMV and insured. Electric motorcycles are not allowed on sidewalks, the greenway, or other shared use paths. They can only be used on the streets. Safe Kids Grand Forks The Greenway of Greater Grand Forks

Winter is hopefully behind us, and we have officially entered road work season 🚧. As crews are out revamping a train crossing🚂, fixing our favorite speed bump , or just deciding to tear up a road randomly, please remember to slow down and pay attention. These areas are their office, so please give them space. (Sadly, the city has no say in fixing the private road around the mall- drive at your own risk).

Heads up folks! Our favorite speed bump is going away.

Heads up folks! Our favorite speed bump is going away.

If you have enjoyed this bump on S. Columbia just south of 24th, we are sorry but starting tomorrow crews will begin removing it. Over the next couple of months, Columbia will be down to one lane in each direction as crews repair this shock tester. Again we apologize.
