⏰ **GPHS PARENTS & GUARDIANS: IMPORTANT EARLY CHECKOUT REMINDER**

To protect valuable instructional time and help ease congestion during afternoon dismissal, **Grand Prairie High School has a 2:00 PM cutoff for early student checkouts.**

If your student needs to leave early, please plan accordingly and submit the **Early Checkout Notice** ahead of time.

📚 **Why does this matter?**
Every class period counts! Students checked out during 7th period may be marked absent for that class. Students must attend at least **90% of each class period** to receive credit, and repeated absences can result in credit loss — even if the student has a passing grade.

Whenever possible:
• Schedule appointments after school.
• If an early checkout is necessary, plan to check your student out **before 6th period**.
• Submit the Early Checkout Notice in advance.

We know unexpected situations happen, and we’re here to work with our Gopher families when challenges arise.

REMINDER: No school for GPHS students today!

🚨 Attention Grand Prairie High School (GPHSGophers) and Grand Prairie Fine Arts Academy Families,

Earlier this evening, a water leak was reported outside of the front drive at Grand Prairie High School. It's been determined that the main water lines must be shut down completely for repair.

We are working with the City to determine and coordinate the identified water line repair. The repairs will be extensive, and we do not have an estimated time for completion. However, it has been determined that large segments of the buildings will not have water.

In the best interest of our students and staff, and to ensure our efforts focus on proper repairs, classes at Grand Prairie High School and Grand Prairie Fine Arts Academy will be canceled on Thursday, September 3. This closure is for students only and includes Early College students. Staff will receive additional direction regarding where to report tomorrow.

We will monitor progress to determine what will happen on Friday based on the water line repair underway tonight and tomorrow. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

UPDATE: Jostens was on campus today with some goodies for Gophers, including rings and senior gear!

🎓 **SENIORS:** Students who ordered their cap & gown package online by Monday were able to pick up the **senior swag included in their package** — T-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies and other items!

💍 **JUNIORS:** Our juniors were also able to pick up their **Gratitude Rings** today!

🚨 **IMPORTANT SENIOR REMINDER:** 🚨
**CAPS & GOWNS WERE NOT DISTRIBUTED TODAY.** Jostens will not even receive our caps and gowns until **AFTER THE HOLIDAYS**, so if you didn't get yours today — don't worry! Nobody did. 😊

Student IDs are required every day at GPHS!

All students must wear their student ID on a lanyard and keep it visible while on campus.

You may be thinking, “Why should I fill out the Free and Reduced Price Meals application?” You could be eligible for many great benefits and resources for your child. Grand Prairie ISD would like to dispel another myth about free and reduced-price meals. Hear what GPISD students have to say about the Free and Reduced Price meal application.

🚨 As a reminder, this application must be renewed every school year, or benefits will stop after 30 days of the school year. Also, students not participating in the free and reduced-price meal program will be required to pay for meals.�

💍 It’s your turn to order your official GPHS class ring!

📅 **Jostens Class Ring Order Day: Thursday, August 20**
📍 During all lunches

Juniors who order by this date can take advantage of Jostens’ **lowest ring pricing of the year**, plus special promotional items. Students planning to participate in the **Junior Class Ring Ceremony later this fall** will want to get their orders started soon.
