One year later and it is still hard to put into words what this night meant to us!
We remember planning this event, not knowing at all what to expect, just 5 days after Charlie's assassination. As Board Members of Young Greenville, we asked ourselves: how do you even start to plan an event to honor someone whose life had such a profound impact on our country?
We wondered if a few hundred people may show up, have one or two people speak, then close the night with a prayer and a candle. Well, the day came, and over 3,000 of you came out to honor Charlie's life and legacy with us. More than 3,000 of you came together to grieve, to remember, to pray, and to honor the life of Charlie Kirk. The prayer vigil was far greater than we could have imagined.
Looking back at these photos, not only do you see the love and support for Charlie and the entire Kirk family, but you see a whole community coming together! (And we know so many people told us stories of how they traveled for many miles to gather with us that night.)
To Graham and Elissa Allen: thank you for reaching out to us and offering to bring your family out to come and speak. We know how badly you were grieving at that time after losing such a dear friend, yet you came anyways and honored Charlie so beautifully!
To Mark and Sarah Lynch and the employees of Jeff Lynch: Thank you for your hospitality, generosity, and hard work. You graciously hosted and helped plan this incredible event (even during your family vacation) and for that we are truly so grateful!
To all of the incredible speakers, singers, pastors, and volunteers: We could not have done any of this without you! Thank you for your time and your willingness to stand up and be bold!
We will never forget the impact of this night, and we will never forget Charlie's legacy! 💖
